No burning ~ No fireworks
Although we have had some rain, it’s not enough.

Let’s have a safe Memorial Day Weekend! Remember the ones who sacrificed it all.
🇺🇸

Gulf County is the driest County in the Panhandle - 20+ inch rainfall deficit currently - Burn Ban still in effect - No Fires & No Fireworks

Prayers for the family

Mossy Pond VFD is saddened to share the passing of Sue Bristow, who was a volunteer firefighter and first responder for 16 years with our department. She was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother who loved to hunt and spend time with her grandkids. Yet even when her health prevented her from responding to calls, she still made the time to support both our department and community. To know Sue was to love her, and her loss is greatly felt. We are sending all our love to Robert Bristow, her husband--fellow retired MPVFD volunteer, and the rest of their family.

Rest well, Sister. We will take it from here. ❤️🖤

Burn Ban enacted by Gulf County - Effective immediately (03/31/26) No Burning - All open burning is prohibited due to extreme drought and critical weather conditions. These weather conditions aggravate a drought-stressed fire environment that has already supported impactful wildfires in North Florida. The weather will contribute to an environment that will support a high risk of new, large wildfires.

Tomorrow is Christmas Day, many will spend this blessed time with family and friends, some will be celebrating their religious freedom.
Also on this day many will place their 50 pounds of firefighting bunker gear on a fire engine or a ladder truck and wait for the “Bell to Hit”, others will pull on a kevlar vest, gun belt and “ Hit the Streets “. Of course others will stock their med bags, check their AED’s, fuel levels on their ambulances and be “ Ready to Roll”, some will answer the 911 calls for help, and give critical and life saving information and advice to callers and responders. Why do we take on such tasks? Good question, with many answers. Mostly, I would suppose it’s just an internal drive to want to make a difference, able to help our fellow man. We don’t wear capes, we’re not superheroes, we are flesh and blood that care for others. There is a bond among the men and women that voluntarily step into “ Harm’s Way” that few will ever experience, it’s a honor and a blessing to be among those. The words in the picture say it all.

Merry Christmas from myself, the officers, and men and women of SGFR.🎄

Chief Mike
