What a weekend in Port Royal! 💙

We started Friday at the Port Royal Library for Touch a Truck, and we are so thankful for everyone who came out to spend time with us. Captain McCown read to the kids, families got to check out our patrol cars, and Corporal Garvin even put the drone in the air for a little extra fun.

Saturday morning kicked off bright and early with our Father’s Day Fishing Fest, and what an amazing turnout! We had plenty of fish, a few funny catches, lots of smiles, and a great morning with our community.

We wrapped up the day at the First Annual Walk Against Violence at Live Oaks Park, where Sergeant Mason had the honor of helping judge the co****le tournament. It was a positive event with an incredible turnout, and we were thankful to be invited to be part of it.

It was a busy weekend, but it was the best kind of busy. Thank you, Port Royal, for continuing to show up, support each other, and make this community such a special place to serve. 💙

🚗 Child Passenger Safety Reminder

Our smallest passengers deserve the safest ride possible.

Before you head out, take a few extra seconds to make sure your child is properly secured in the correct car seat or booster seat for their age, height, and weight.

A few quick reminders:

✔️ Make sure the car seat is installed correctly
✔️ Check that harness straps are snug
✔️ Keep children in the back seat until at least age 13
✔️ Never skip proper restraints, even for short trips

We know life gets busy. We know everyone is rushing. But properly securing your child every single trip can make all the difference in a crash.

Buckle up, slow down, and help protect our most precious passengers.

Parents and guardians, please help your child submit their photo and include their name, age, phone number, title of the photo, and location where the photo was taken.

🚦 Traffic Tip Tuesday: Slow Down. Get There Alive. 🚦

Speeding may feel like saving time, but the truth is, those few extra minutes are not worth risking your life or someone else’s.

In 2024, speeding was a contributing factor in nearly one-third of all traffic fatalities. That is not just a number on a graphic — that is families, friends, coworkers, and communities impacted by preventable crashes.

Speed limits are posted for a reason. They are based on roadway conditions, traffic patterns, pedestrian activity, visibility, and safety concerns. When drivers choose to ignore them, reaction time decreases and the risk of serious injury increases.

Please slow down, pay attention, and give yourself enough time to get where you are going safely.

A few minutes late is better than not arriving at all.

🚨 COMMAND STAFF UPDATE 🚨

The Fire Department appears to believe PFC Potato wants to be a firefighter.

Respectfully… why would he do that when K9 Rocky has clearly demonstrated there are higher-ranking opportunities available right here?

Following the Fire Department’s recent “official response,” Rocky has assumed temporary command.

Was this authorized?
No.

Was he concerned about that?
Also no.

After reviewing the Fire Department’s post, Rocky has officially classified it as firehouse propaganda, emotional manipulation, and an attempted snack-based recruitment campaign.

Let us be clear:

PFC Potato has not submitted a transfer request.
PFC Potato has not passed a hose-drag assessment.
PFC Potato does not have pole privileges.
And until further notice, any images suggesting otherwise will be treated as firehouse propaganda.

Rocky will remain in command until order is restored.

The Fire Department is, again, encouraged to govern themselves accordingly.

A sweet thank you to Sea Island Sprouts for stopping by to visit with us today and for bringing doughnuts for our officers and staff!

And on National Doughnut Day, too. 🍩

We loved getting to spend a little time with the kids and appreciate you thinking of us. Visits like this are always a bright spot in our day, and the doughnuts definitely did not hurt.

Thank you, Sea Island Sprouts, for helping make our day a little sweeter!
