🚧 Paris Avenue Traffic Reminder 🚧

As construction continues along Paris Avenue, we’d like to remind everyone to please slow down and use extra caution while traveling through the area.

The construction zone speed limit is 15 MPH, and Paris Avenue is currently operating as one-way traffic controlled by temporary traffic signals.

Please obey the signals, keep your speed at or below 15 MPH, and be patient with other drivers and the construction crews working in the roadway.

A few extra minutes of patience can help keep everyone safe — especially the workers who are out there improving our community.

🚔 15 years ago today, policing changed forever.

On September 15, 2011, the final Ford Crown Victoria rolled off the assembly line.

For years, the Crown Vic served faithfully as a patrol car, mobile office, lunchroom, equipment locker, and occasional curb-climbing machine.

It had the turning radius of a school bus, the interior styling of a waiting room, and enough trunk space to hide half the department’s gear.

But when you saw one sitting in the median… you checked your speed. 😏

Here’s to the Crown Vic — built like a tank, driven hard, worked harder, and still missed by cops everywhere.

📵 TRAFFIC TIP TUESDAY: PUT THE PHONE DOWN

A quick look at a text, notification, or map can take your eyes and attention away from the road at the exact moment traffic conditions change.

Before you begin driving:

• Set your navigation and choose your music.
• Silence notifications or activate your phone’s driving mode.
• Place your phone somewhere you will not be tempted to reach for it.
• Ask a passenger to handle calls or messages.
• If something cannot wait, pull over and park in a safe location.

No text, call, or social-media notification is worth risking a life. Your message can wait—the people sharing the road with you cannot.

Beaufort County is alerting residents, businesses, property owners, and members of the public of a fraudulent email scam in which individuals are impersonating Beaufort County Planning and Zoning employees and requesting payment by wire transfer.

Beaufort County has been made aware of an email falsely representing itself as correspondence from "The Beaufort County Planning and Community Development" regarding a zoning map amendment application. The fraudulent correspondence advised the recipient that in order to proceed with the application review process they would need to wire funds to settle an alleged invoice.

The email was not sent by Beaufort County and we encourage all applicants, residents, and business owners to be vigilant and verify unexpected payment requests prior to sending or disclosing any information.

TRAFFIC UPDATE | PARIS AVENUE

Beginning today, traffic within the Paris Avenue construction zone will be reduced from two lanes to one lane.

Traffic lights will be in place to direct motorists and indicate which direction of traffic should proceed through the work zone. This lane closure will allow contractors to begin demolition and prepare the area for upcoming concrete and asphalt work.

Motorists are encouraged to allow extra time and consider alternate routes when traveling in and out of downtown Port Royal, including West Paris Avenue, Edinburgh Avenue, Richmond Avenue and Old Shell Road.

Please use caution when traveling through the construction zone and be mindful of crews working in the area.

Thank you for your patience as work continues along Paris Avenue.

Today, we pause to remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and honor the first responders, service members, and everyday Americans whose courage and sacrifice will never be forgotten.

That remembrance now holds a special place in our department. A thoughtful community member gifted PRPD this Flag of Honor and caps honoring the fallen members of NYPD and FDNY. Now displayed in our lobby, the memorial is a lasting tribute to those we lost and those who answered the call.

We remember. We honor. We will never forget.
