DONATIONS TO THE COMMON GOOD FOOD BANK IN 2024
During these concerning economic times The Common Good Food Bank is grateful to have been able to continue providing supplemental food items to our community members.
To be able to provide as much food as we did in 2024 was only made possible by the generosity of private citizens who donated cash along with prepackaged commercial dry goods.
The Common Good also received generous grants from the Port Orford Rotary, Wild Rivers Coast Alliance, Coquille Tribal Community Fund, Roundhouse Foundation, and United Way.
In addition to these cash donations we would like to public acknowledge the following:
Valley Flora donated 5717 pounds of fresh produce over numerous months.
Valentine’s Blueberries donated 217 pounds of fresh blueberries. This amazing fresh produce was given away immediately during our Distribution Days.
Ray’s Market donated 4370 pounds of primarily dry goods that was used to supplement our offerings on Distribution Days, including our Christmas Boxes.
Our local fisherman Phillip Russman donated 1493 pounds of fresh caught fish.
Aaron Laughton from POSS donated their facility to process, package and freeze the fish which was and continues to be shared on Distribution Days.
On December 21st one of the freezers at Dollar General unexpectedly broke down. Approximately 1500 pounds of frozen food was then donated to The Common Good and
continues to be shared every Distribution Day.
Thank you Port Orford Community for helping The Common Good Food Bank in our efforts to support our community members during these challenging times. ❤ ❤ ❤

. CITY GARDEN WATER METER CREDIT TIME!
Your garden meter credits for 2024 need to be in by 11/29/24!
If you have any questions, please call City Hall at 541-332-3681.
If you aren't sure what this post is referring to, our sewer bill is based on the amount of water we use, assuming that all the water you use is going down the drain and into the sewer. So if you're watering a garden or yard you are being charged for water not going down your drain and into the sewer. So you can purchase a water meter from City Hall and hook it up to the water line going to your garden. You report that once a year to get a credit on your sewer bill.

WE'RE ENCOURAGING EVERYONE TO GET A GO BAG ORGANIZED!
Our Emergency Preparedness Commission is going to really be stressing the need for everyone to have a Go Bag for every member and pet of your household. This is a link from the Red Cross with suggestions and things to consider. We'll keep giving ideas. Not to ever scare anyone but we could easily get cut off or need to flee because of a Wildfire or whatever! This is an important first step in being prepared.
