Did you "catch the Wave" this week? There was a really nice feature story in the The Port Lavaca Wave newspaper this week about the history of homecoming mums and how traditions and trends have evolved. It's a good read that showcased the perspectives of 1) a Senior Floral Design student, 2) a professional mum maker/business owner, and 3) a mother/daughter duo who collaborated to make their biggest and best design ever for Senior year (check out photo below)!
We hope everyone has a safe, happy, and enjoyable homecoming! Love our Calhoun traditions.... love our Calhoun family... love our community partners who showcase the neat things our schools and families are doing.

Families, students, and staff who go the extra mile to make homecoming extra special each year? Double check!
Shout out to our wonderful parents of the Calhoun High School Junior and Senior classes who hauled supplies and started cooking breakfast tacos this morning before the sun came up. More than 1000 breakfast tacos were served to CHS students and staff this morning, as part of the annual "Taco Wars" cookoff between the Junior and Senior classes, which has become a beloved homecoming tradition.
We appreciate our parents for bringing the fun ... and the breakfast!

P.S. keep an eye out for next week's The Port Lavaca Wave edition... there may be a feature article about the people, efforts, and traditions behind the HOCO taco wars!

We just love science around here ... it's so hands-on and interesting to explore how the world works! Also, having a solid foundation in science prepares us well for our future careers, and really just life in general! Knowledge is power!

Today, Calhoun County ISD assisted local law enforcement to investigate and address an inappropriate message that was sent by one student to another student over social media outside of school. The investigation found no credible threat or concern for any campus or student at this time.

It is important for students and families to understand that our district takes all reported concerns seriously. Any report of a potential threat will be evaluated and addressed. Threatening language or imagery can have serious consequences, regardless of the intent behind it. Inappropriate content that a student creates, shares, reposts, or comments on online could result in a school or law enforcement response.

We encourage all students, parents, and community members to report concerns to their campus principal or online at www.calcoisd.org. If you see something, please say something.
