Summer Hours: Daily 10-9. Built in 1852, the Port Isabel Lighthouse is a Texas Historical Commission State Historic Site.

The site includes a Visitors Center in the replica Keeper's Cottage, a park and the Lighthouse.

The Keeper’s Cottage Visitor Center will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Lighthouse will be open at 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission: $5 adults; $4 seniors; $3 children. Parking available around the park. (956) 943-0735.

They're back! Saturday, April 4: Several hundred of red eggs will be among the thousands of other prize filled eggs! At the Port Isabel Lighthouse State Historic Site! This event is free and open to the public. HUNT STARTS AT 10 am.

Includes a HISTORY HUNT! RED eggs marked with PORT ISABEL LIGHTHOUSE STATE HISTORIC SITE will be also be hidden!

Thousands of eggs will be hidden on the hill of the Lighthouse. Bring your own basket. Line up on the north and south sides of Lighthouse Park. At 10 a.m. the starting line will be released, and the fun begins. The Easter Bunny will also be making an appearance and posing for photos.

The Keeper’s Cottage Visitor Center will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Lighthouse will be open at 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission: $5 adults; $4 seniors; $3 children. Parking available around the park. (956) 943-0735.

Imagine looking out of the top of the Lighthouse in 1933 and seeing "Boating at Port Isabel"! Postcards from the Past: It's 1933 and Mrs. Ellis Rogers of Maine gets a message from Margaret in Point Isabel. "Just came across the four mile Lagoon, and soon leaving Pt. Isabel for Brownsville." What views did you see from the top of the Lighthouse?

We haven't seen the Lighthouse shadow for most of Ground Hog Day today! And since a mild winter is predicted, we'll take that as a good sign. Enjoy your Ground Hog Day wherever you are and if you are in the Rio Grande Valley, come enjoy the day with us!

’Twas the night before Christmas, when down by the bay,
The Port Isabel Lighthouse stood watch till the day;
The lantern burned steady in calm coastal air,
As the keeper stood guard on the catwalk up there.

He peered through his glass as the moon climbed on high,
When a sleigh and eight reindeer swept fast through the sky;
They glided past lantern and cast-iron rail,
Not a sound but the wind in the soft Gulf night gale.

He hastened below to the cottage so snug,
Where children lay dreaming in quilts warm and hugged;
And the light kept its watch till the morning grew bright—
Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night.
