As students head back to school this week, we’re looking back at Summerfest and the many ways our community came together for residents!

Backpacks, school supplies, haircuts and bikes helped students get ready for the year ahead, while residents of all ages had the opportunity to enjoy the block party, meet neighbors and connect directly with local organizations offering resources and services.

Thank you to our community partners who showed up, shared resources and helped make Summerfest a day that supported and celebrated the people we serve. We're already excited about next year!

Families enjoyed an afternoon of activities, students picked up school supplies for the year ahead, and residents connected directly with local organizations offering resources and support right here in our community.

Understandably, we receive many questions about waitlists for housing. Did you know that we have to follow the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) eligibility guidelines that include income limits, documentation
requirements, and priority categories? Every application is reviewed carefully so we can serve those who qualify most in need of affordable housing options. We’re committed to keeping the process fair, consistent, and accessible.

Housing is just one piece of the puzzle. We support programs that help residents build stability and long-term housing security. Through resident resources and support connections, we help individuals and families maintain housing and
navigate challenges that may arise. Housing stability is about more than rent—it’s about support and access to resources for the whole person.

The 2025 St. Clair County Senior Citizens’ Millage Annual Report highlights the impact of investing in older adults across our county:

• More than 1.1 million services delivered
• More than 12,000 older adults served
• 12 service providers
• 28 programs and services

At the Port Huron Housing Commission, we’re proud to be part of that network by providing affordable housing that helps seniors remain safe, independent, and connected to the community they call home.

Supporting older adults takes all of us working together. We’re grateful to partner with organizations throughout St. Clair County that are committed to helping seniors age with dignity and access the resources they need.

The 2025 St. Clair County Senior Citizens’ Millage Annual Report is now available.

The report provides an overview of programs and services supported through the Senior Citizens’ Millage, including 2025 service impact, provider information, and community support for older adults throughout St. Clair County.

In 2025, the Senior Citizens’ Millage supported:

• 1,100,000+ services delivered
• 12,000+ older adults served
• 12 service providers
• 28 programs and services

Our housing meets HUD health and safety standards to ensure residents have stable and well-maintained homes, and we proudly and consistently score highly on HUD reviews of our program. Safe housing is the foundation for everything else—health, education, and financial stability all start
with a secure place to live.

Did you know that we offer housing option beyond our five PHHC properties? We also administer a Housing Choice Voucher Program (Section 8), which expands housing options across the private market. This program allows eligible residents to choose safe, decent, and affordable housing from participating landlords throughout Port Huron.
