Preparing for dress uniform inspections can take time, but the attention to detail required to make sure your ribbons, devices, and other components look "ship shape" is a great skill to have, and makes our cadets stand out amongst their peers!

As an added plus, cadets have the opportunity to share their achievements by wearing them on their chest in the form of ribbons like above.

The cadets bad a blast this past weekend staffing, and subsequently participating, in the 2023 Mud Run at NBVC Port Hueneme!

The unit completed the entire event as one large team, then went back and held a race for those who were still itching for more!

Our Adult Leaders have been doing a lot of work and were recognized last drill - we handed out 4 Presidential Volunteer Service Awards, 2 Community Service Awards, a service ribbon, and 7 Citation Ribbons to our adult staff alone!

Without the support of our Adult Leaders, we would not be able to function - thank you for all your hard work!

Our cadets had a blast helping out the Channel Islands Maritime Museum this weekend!

In addition to assisting with set up and take down, they got to dress up as Whales, build their own small wooden boats, help the arts and crafts table, and your the Schooner "Mystic Whaler" that is now moored here in Oxnard Harbor!

Congratulations to our Chief Petty Officer Deacon Hegland for receiving the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Sea Cadets Medal!

CPO Hegland has excelled in his role as Command Chief of Ben Moreell Bn and TS Nicholas H Anderson, and his actions have been recognized by one of the less common awards our Sea Cadets earn.

The Channel Islands council of the Navy League of the United States presented our Commanding Officer a check for their gracious donation of $3,500 to support our program!

Thanks to the support of the CI NLUS, our cadets can continue to have the equipment, uniforms, and trainings we need to advance our mission of creating the leaders of tomorrow!

Color Guard Recruits learned the basics of Rifle Manual, Color Bearer Manual, and some Color Guard Drill (marching) Manual during our first official CG Practice of the year!

Wondering why we are marching with the CA and POW flags? It's because we didn't want to practice with the National Colors, as that flag commands extra respect (like salutes when it passes). Typically, professional Color Guards practice with a stand-in flag for the American.
