The City of Port Hueneme is sharing information about its new oversize vehicle parking ordinance, which will take effect on June 20, 2026. The ordinance was adopted to help improve public safety, keep streets and bicycle lanes clear, and preserve on-street parking availability for residents. Beginning June 20, parking oversized vehicles on City streets is prohibited unless an exception or permit applies. Initial implementation will focus on education and awareness, with Ventura Road serving as the main focus area due to bicycle lane and traffic safety concerns. During approximately the first 30 days after the ordinance takes effect, warnings are expected to be issued in many cases before citation-based enforcement begins. Pickup trucks that are less than 25 feet in length and 82 inches in height are excluded from the ordinance鈥檚 oversized vehicle definition.

Thank you to everyone who joined the City of Port Hueneme for the Moranda Park Playground Grand Opening on June 9th. The event had a huge community turnout as families, residents, and City officials came together for the ribbon cutting and to celebrate the renewed playground.

A special thank you to Mister Softee for helping make the event even more fun with free ice cream for the first 100 servings. The City appreciates the community鈥檚 patience and support throughout the playground renewal process, and we look forward to seeing families enjoy Moranda Park for years to come.

The renewed Moranda Park playground is now open and ready for the community to enjoy. Families are welcome to stop by and start making memories now, and we invite everyone to join us on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. for the official Grand Opening celebration as we come together to celebrate this renewed play space.

Good things are worth waiting for, and the City appreciates the community鈥檚 patience during the delay in opening the playground. The opening was briefly postponed while the City awaited delivery of a missing equipment piece needed to complete the project, and we are excited to now welcome the community back to enjoy the renewed Moranda Park playground.
