At Everett Naval station, NCB-18 repaired a section of a paver walkway that had settled and become uneven over time. About 400 square feet was pulled up, the base was reworked and compacted, and the pavers were set back in place with the proper grade for drainage.

The goal was to correct the problem area and leave it in better condition than it was found. The surface is now level, drains properly, and is safer for daily use.

At the Marvin Shields Memorial, the team also pressure washed and re-stained the pergola, cleaning it up and helping preserve the space.

Not far from Everett Wa, is Jim Creek, which turned into a full-scale playground for our equipment operators, set against one of the most unique naval sites in the region. With the area constantly evolving, operators got to work in a live environment where terrain needed to be shaped and moved.

Dozers and graders pushed material across a disposal zone, steadily leveling ground while building real control behind the blade. Excavator operators worked rock handling, trenching, and loading operations, dialing in precision while filling dump trucks for the next phase.

Once loaded, operators took to the wheel, hauling material through narrow, winding roads across the landscape, then executing controlled dumps. Every movement demanded awareness, control, and confidence behind the equipment.

Replaced two failed concrete slabs along a main walkway in support of NAVFAC Everett. The existing sections were creating a tripping hazard, so the team demoed the area, prepped the base, and set new pads in line with the existing path.

Forms were set tight, grade was held, and the pour came out clean, level and tied in properly with the walkway.

Led by a UT1, the project gave multiple rates hands-on experience with demo, forming, and placement outside their normal scope.

Appreciate Mr. Sickenberger and the NAVFAC team for pushing the work order and keeping the shop open late so the job stayed on track.

“Seeing junior Seabees take a project from demolition to final pour gives confidence in both the work and the team.”

As we step into 2026, NCB-18 does so with intention, care, and a shared belief in one another. This new year brings important training, readiness goals, and milestones ahead, but more than that, it’s a reminder that none of us pursue those goals alone.

This battalion is a community. One built on teamwork, trust, and looking out for the people beside us—whether you’re actively serving, a veteran who helped shape our legacy, or a family member who supports from home. Progress happens through discipline and effort, but also through connection, encouragement, and knowing someone has your back.

If this year feels heavy, uncertain, or overwhelming, know that you matter here. Strength isn’t just measured by what we accomplish, it’s also found in reaching out, supporting one another, and continuing forward together.

As we work toward the goals ahead, may 2026 be a year of growth, resilience, and renewed purpose for the battalion, and for every individual who is part of the NCB-18 family.

“The real strength of the Seabees lies in the character of their people.” — RADM Ben Moreell

Christmas on deployment looks different, but the heart of it remains the same. Even far from home, Seabees come together to share meals, laughter, and moments that turn a temporary place into a true holiday gathering.

Surrounded by lights, traditions old and new, and the people standing beside us, these moments reflect the strength of a family built through service. What begins as time away from loved ones often becomes a season defined by connection, support, and memories that last a lifetime.

Wherever the mission takes us, the spirit of Christmas follows because family isn’t just where you are, it’s who you’re with.

Christmas is here, bringing a season of light, connection, and reflection, and at NCB-18, it’s a time to appreciate the strength of our military family. The friendships we build, the laughter we share, and the support we give one another are what make this season truly special.

As we celebrate, we also think of our Seabees serving around the world this Christmas, carrying the mission forward while far from home. Their dedication and the families supporting them remain an important part of our holiday thoughts.

From everyone at NCB-18, we wish you a safe, joyful, and peaceful Christmas filled with warmth, good company, and a little holiday cheer wherever you may be.

“With willing hearts and skillful hands, the Seabees bring light and hope wherever they serve.” — RADM Ben Moreell

This past drill weekend, CBCM Nick Alexandrou retired from the Navy. After 28 years of service, he reflected on some of his favorite memories, including work ups and mobilizations. "Especially our tours to Iraq and Afghanistan back in 2006 and 2010 through Gulfport. Made friendships I still had and will for the rest of my life."

Alexandrou started his career at NMCB 17 in Sacramento before they reorganized into NCB 18. "Being pinned as a Chief in 2016 while deployed to Djibouti was a major highlight. Being the SEL for Bahrain DET ISA 2022-2023 was the pinnacle, all my training and leadership experience for that MOB was incredible to give back before retiring."

Thank you for your years of service Master Chief, and enjoy your retirement!⚓🇺🇲
