It is with great honor that I turn over the reigns of the Port Edwards Police Department to Chief Brandon Abbott!

Chief Abbott has been with Port Edwards PD since September 2019, but has over 20 years of policing experience working with local law enforcement agencies.

Chief Abbott was born and raised in Wisconsin Rapids and shares our "small town" values. If you haven't had the pleasure to meet Chief Abbott, please stop down to the Police Dept. and introduce yourself!

As for me, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! My dream of being the Chief of my hometown has been checked off my bucket list. The love and support that this community has shown me and my family cannot be bought, manufactured or otherwise duplicated!

There are no words to express the gratitude that I feel for you all, the best I can come up with is, I Love You All!

The Port Edwards Police Department has been notified of a scam that is going on in our area.

If you receive a text or call from someone who claims to be your priest, pastor, friend, coworker etc. asking for you to purchase gift cards for local individuals going through cancer treatments, please talk to them in person before you do anything.

Scammers are targeting good hearted people who are always willing to help others in need. Unfortunately, these funds are not going to the places that are being promised.

Please do not purchase gift cards and send the card information to anyone. This is not a reputable means of donating.

If you feel that you have been scammed, please contact your local law enforcement. If that is the Port Edwards Police Department, we can be contacted through the Wood County Communications Center at 715-421-8701 or at our office 715-887-3030.

Voting is underway in Port Edwards from 7am to 8pm at the Port Edwards Fire Department. If you witness or are subject to voter intimidation, alert an election official and call local law enforcement immediately. If you are being threatened with violence, call 911.

Happy Halloween from all of us at the Port Edwards Police Department! Trick-or-Treat hours in the Village of Port Edwards are 5pm to 7pm. Please remember to have a fun and safe night!

If you happen to visit any of our friends at the Port Edwards FireDepartment, make sure you remind them that the Cops are cooler than Fire Fighters! (If you attended the Trunk-or-Treat you will understand).
