The team from Award Living Solutions Port Charlotte ADT had the pleasure of participating in the Elephant ranch event in Sarasota. They also took part in a clean-up initiative at the park and subsequently enjoyed lunch at Bean Depot while listening to live music, and visited Cool Today park, the training stadium of the Atlanta Braves, and Pony Outreach.

Amazing job!

Today, we honor the lives lost, the families impacted, and the heroes who rose on September 11, 2001. It was a day that changed our nation forever; but it was also a day that revealed the resilience and heart of the American people.

For those of us in the disability community, remembrance carries deep meaning. We know what it means to rise in the face of adversity. We know the power of perseverance, of standing strong even when the world feels heavy.

On that day, people of all abilities stood together; helping one another, lifting each other up, and showing the world what true courage looks like. And in the years since, we’ve continued to show that our differences are not weaknesses, but sources of incredible strength.

Let us continue to be united; in remembrance, in purpose, and in hope.

We remember. We honor. We stand together.

In Loving Memory of Troy

It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we share the unexpected passing of our beloved friend and long-time community member, Troy. His loss has left a space that cannot be filled, and the echoes of his presence will be felt throughout our hearts and across the state.

Troy has been with us for many years, becoming not only a cherished part of our community but a symbol of strength, kindness, and joy. Over the years, staff and participants from all corners of the state have had the honor and privilege of knowing him — each one touched by his warmth, his humor, and the quiet courage with which he moved through the world.

He brought people together. He made us laugh. He reminded us, simply by being himself, of what it means to live with purpose and compassion. His legacy lives on in the relationships he built, the lives he touched, and the love he freely gave.

We invite you to join us in honoring Troy’s memory by sharing your stories, photos, and memories below. In our grief, let us also celebrate the incredible life he lived and the immeasurable impact he made.

Our hearts go out to Troy’s family, friends, caregivers, and to all across the state who are mourning this profound loss.
Rest in power, dear Troy. You will always be part of us.

We know this news may be difficult to hear. Troy had meaningful relationships with many of the people we serve, and we understand that his absence may bring confusion, sadness, or distress for some. Grief looks different for everyone, and some individuals may have a particularly hard time processing this sudden change.
We want to assure you that we are here to support you and your loved ones through this time. Our staff are prepared to offer emotional support, talk through any questions, and provide space for people to express their feelings in a safe and compassionate environment. We encourage families and caregivers to let us know if additional support is needed at home or in other settings.
This is a profound loss for our entire community, and we will continue to move through it together — with patience, kindness, and care.

If you have any questions or would like resources related to grief support, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Sean at 781-325-2452, or [email protected]

Happy Nurses and Teachers Appreciation Week to Our Incredible Team of DSPs, Caregivers, and Directors

This week, we pause to honor and celebrate the heartbeat of our care community—you. Each of you, in your unique roles, brings strength, compassion, and dedication that cannot be measured. Whether you're by a client’s side in the quiet hours of the night, advocating behind the scenes, or leading with empathy and grace, your commitment changes lives every single day.

You are more than caregivers. You are listeners, protectors and problem-solvers. You meet each challenge not just with skill, but with heart. Your work is sacred, and your impact reaches far beyond what words can capture.

To our DSPs: thank you for being the steady hands and caring voices that empower those we serve to live with dignity and joy.

To our caregivers: thank you for the countless unseen moments of love and support you give, day in and day out.

To our directors: thank you for leading with vision and compassion, creating environments where care can thrive.

This week—and always—we see you, we appreciate you, and we are deeply grateful for all that you do.

With heartfelt thanks,

Angie and Jess
