NEW: The National Hurricane Center released today that storm surge during Hurricane reached 5 - 10 feet in Charlotte County. Since Nov. 2023 the Mid-Hawthorn aquifer that provides irrigation and drinking water to most of Northeast Cape Coral has been seeing record lows in water levels. Residents living in the area have been under mandatory water shortage restrictions that limit irrigation to just one day a week.

Eerie sightings of fish spinning in circles until they died were documented in the Florida Keys between November 2023 and April 2024—but now researchers have noticed it happening again.

Previously, this unique phenomenon was traced back to toxic algae that had managed to infiltrate the organs of many marine species.
