🌳 Storm Debris Reminder

Residents with large tree limbs or trees resulting from Tropical Storm Edouard are asked to cut them into sections no longer than 4 feet and stack them neatly at the edge of the road.

Please keep debris out of the roadway and away from fire hydrants, utility poles and other obstructions. Properly prepared debris will help crews safely and efficiently clear our neighborhoods.

Thank you for helping keep Port Arthur safe and accessible as cleanup continues.

Hmmm 🤔

The City of Port Arthur is providing clarification regarding communications surrounding a potential shelter in place order during Tropical Storm Edouard.

Mayor Charlotte M. Moses has issued an official statement addressing what occurred. The City understands the concerns this situation may have raised among residents and believes our citizens deserve clear and accurate information.

Edouard continues to ignore the rule of tropical systems weakening over land in terms of structure, with the eye still intact 19 hours after landfall, and mass tripled in size.
Significant to extreme flooding is ongoing in portions of east and southeast TX. 27 inches has been recorded in Kountze, TX.

PUBLIC NOTICE – STRONG GAS ODOR INVESTIGATION
Port Arthur Emergency Management, in coordination with the Port Arthur Fire Department, continues to investigate reports of a strong gas is being detected throughout portions of the city.
The Port Arthur Fire Department has crews out throughout the city investigating these reports and conducting air monitoring at several locations. At this time, air monitoring has not detected any actionable levels that would require protective measures, and crews have not been able to identify the source or substance responsible for the odor.
Emergency Management is also communicating with local industrial facilities to determine whether any releases or other activities may be contributing to the odor.
Port Arthur Emergency Management and the Fire Department will continue investigating and monitoring conditions throughout the city. Should conditions change or any protective actions become necessary, the public will be notified immediately through official City communication channels.
