Congratulations to this year’s Mayor’s Youth Council graduates! 🎓

It has been so exciting to watch this group learn more about our community, serve alongside city staff, explore local facilities, and grow as young leaders throughout the year.

Thank you for your hard work, enthusiasm, and willingness to get involved in Port Aransas. We can’t wait to see all the great things ahead for each of you!

As we gather with family and friends today, we also take time to honor and remember the brave Americans who gave their lives in service to our nation.

We are forever grateful for their sacrifice.

The Mayor’s Youth Council rolled up their sleeves for a community service project to help beautify the new Public Safety Building!

Members installed four new self-watering planters filled with fresh plants and flowers, adding a welcoming touch to this important new space for our community.

Special thanks to the Parks & Recreation Department for helping coordinate the project and install the new planters and plants!

Another great day with the Mayor’s Youth Council! Last week the group toured the airport with Airport Manager Chris Shanklin, got an up-close look at a Coast Guard helicopter with Captain Charlie Wilson—a former PAHS graduate—and heard from guest speaker Commissioner Brent Chesney.

To top it all off, one lucky member even got to take a ride in a biplane!

The Mayor’s Youth Council got an inside look at something we all rely on every day!

The group toured Nueces County Water District #4—including the wastewater treatment facility, main office, water tower, and maintenance facility—to learn how Port Aransas gets its water and why it’s so vital to our community.

I had so much fun spending the day with Charlie Robertson, our Mayor for the Day!

Charlie, a 1st grader at H.G. Olsen Elementary, earned this special role through a joint fundraiser between the Mayor’s Office and the Port Aransas Education Foundation.

We spent the day exploring Port Aransas—touring City Hall, the Civic Center, Harbor and Marina, Roberts Point Park, the Port Aransas Chamber & Tourism Bureau, and more, while visiting with so many of the people who help keep our city running (and even grabbing lunch out in the community!).

We wrapped up the day at the Public Safety Building ribbon cutting, where Charlie helped pass out flyers with the Mayor’s Youth Council and proudly led the Pledge of Allegiance.

Thank you, Charlie, for joining me as Mayor for the Day—you did a great job and got a firsthand look at what it means to be a leader in our community!

Thank you to everyone who helped bring this long-awaited project to life—and a special thank you to our police officers for their continued service and dedication while working out of temporary facilities, and for their commitment to protecting Port Aransas.
