Being a child advocate means becoming the eyes and ears for the Judge. you will connect with these children and speak on their behalf to ensure they get what they need to have a happy, loving, and fulfilled life. We strive to reunite broken families and leave them better than before, But we need you to help determine whether that is in the CHILDS best interest.

THIS EVENT NEEDS YOUR HELP!

We have started this years Shop with a Hero event absent several large donors but are confident that our community will help us meet our goal of funding every registered child. Our fundraising goal is $8000 to add to already donated funds. This will help cover every child's Hero experience.

We need your help by donate to help local foster children have the Christmas every family deserves.

Every year we team up with our local Walmart in Port Angeles WA to shop with our local hero's at the Port Angeles Police Department, Clallam County Sheriffs Department, Fire Department, and even our Coast Guard. Who all come to spread Christmas cheer with Santa to all the children and youth of our community! All donated funds go directly to the children to shop with our hero's to get gifts for themselves, friends, and loved ones.

This event gives our local foster and social service connected children an opportunity to participate in a special day of celebration. Registrations is full at this time.

If you find it in your heart to donate you can do so to the Port Angeles Police Association by way of the Venmo account posted below or by mailing a check to our Fiscal Sponsors Olympic View Community Foundation care of Friends of Clallam County Child Advocate Programs.

We know our community will make this happen for every one of the invited children and would like to thank you in advance for your continued support of our community's most valuable gifts!

Clallam County Court Appointed Special Advocacy Program

In 1977, a Seattle juvenile court judge concerned about making drastic decisions with insufficient information conceived the idea of volunteers speaking up for the best interests of children who had been neglected or abused, in the courtroom. From that first program has grown a network of nearly 950 CASA and guardian ad litem programs that are recruiting, training and supporting volunteers in 49 states and the District of Columbia.

CASA and guardian ad litem (GAL) volunteers are appointed by judges to advocate for abused or neglected children, to make sure they don’t get lost in the overburdened legal and social service system or languish in inappropriate group or foster homes. Volunteers stay with each case until it is closed and the child is placed in a safe, permanent home. For many of the children we serve, their CASA/GAL volunteer will be the one constant adult presence in their lives.

In 1983 Clallam County started a CASA program. Merle Watson, a business man from Beaver, WA. took the Seattle CASA training and went to a National Meeting at his own expense to get our program up and running. When he left the Program in 1987 it had won the respect of the local agencies and the court.
