Olympic Peninsula Sasquatch Research Organization OPSRO is devoted to in-the-field research concerning sasquatch on the Olympic Peninsula of WA state.

I've been backpacking the Olympics since the mid-1970s when I worked on a team cleaning up the C141 crash on Mt Constance.

Oregon dull grape, mahonia nervosa. Birds eat the fruit but they are listed as deer-resistant. So, they are probably not that tasty. The leaves are similar to the mountain blueberry but its stems are red.

Cow parsnip, heracleum maximum. The stalks can be peeled and eaten like celery.

My eldest daughter was visiting and we backpacked up to Camp Handy. The Dungeness river meanders a lot through the area making for a relatively flat section of a mile or so. The area has a much higher vegetation load lending to more things to eat.

Allotropa virgata, or sugarstick (or so Google and I think). It's a shroom with a candycane-striped appearance.
