The Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe resides in the Lower Elwha River Valley and adjacent bluffs on the north coast of the Olympic Peninsula just west of Port Angeles, Washington. The original land base was acquired by the United States in trust for the Tribe in 1935-36 and these lands were proclaimed as the Lower Elwha Reservation in 1968. Today tribal lands include about a thousand acres of land on and near the Elwha River.

Weather update! Storm number 3 is due to arrive Thursday. It could pack a serious punch of damaging winds. This means power outages and downed trees amongst other dangers. Now is the time to go to the store, get prescriptions filled, fuel up your generator, have plenty of water and food and check your flashlights! Do not wait. Better to be prepared now, even if this storm dies down before landfall. I will post more information as I receive it.

All,

The Elwha River Restoration department/Maintenance/and Police Department is aware that the red light is flashing at the pump station at the northern end of the Federal Levee on the reservation. There is no concern to be alarmed to the flashing red light. We are working to resolve the issue that is keeping the light on. Tuesday of this week the United States Army Corp of Engineers were on-site conducting some changes to the soft start and after the changes and tests were conducted the light remained on. It appears to be a software programing issue and we have a call in to the programmers of the software/system to assist with correcting the problem. Again there is no concern for safety in the valley at this time. Please pass the word we are trying to resolve the problem.

Thank You
