Hose advancement is one of the most critical skills in the fire service. Getting water to the seat of the fire quickly and efficiently can make all the difference in protecting lives and property.

During this week's training, firefighters worked on the Serpentine Drill, focusing on maneuvering charged hose lines through obstacles, improving communication, maintaining nozzle control, and advancing the line as a team. These drills help build the muscle memory and confidence needed to operate effectively in real-world fireground conditions.

Friday June 19, 2026 at 8:52 p.m., Pearl River County Fire & Rescue District 2 received dispatched to a report of a house trailer on fire. Command 41 arrived on scene to find a single wide mobile home 50% involved. Crews immediately initiated fire suppression efforts and worked to bring the fire under control.

We would like to thank Poplarville FIRE Department for assisting in the suppression efforts.

This fire is currently under investigation by the Pearl River County Fire Marshal's Office.

This class will cover V.E.S., searching off a hoseline, search oriented decision making, and search culture & accountability.

Every search matters. Every decision counts. When the alarm sounds and conditions are at their worst, somebody is waiting.

Full PPE and SCBA required to participate.

This weeks training focused on firefighter survival and the Denver Drill, providing our members with valuable hands-on experience in challenging rescue scenarios.

A thank you to the Poplarville FIRE Department for allowing us to use their station for this training and to District 12(Southeast)for allowing us to utilize their Denver Drill prop.

Most importantly, we want to extend our sincere appreciation to the The First Push Brotherhood for taking the time to share their knowledge, experience, and passion for the fire service. Their dedication to training firefighters and improving the safety and capabilities of departments across the region is truly appreciated.

Southwestern Pearl River County in southern Mississippi...

* WHEN...Until 1230 PM CDT.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
Water over roadways.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 933 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
shortly in the advisory area. Between 2 and 4 inches of rain have
fallen.
- Additional rainfall amounts of 2 to 3 inches are expected over
the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Picayune and Mcneil.

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood

* At 857 AM CDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado
was located near Picayune, moving northeast at 15 mph.

HAZARD...Tornado.

IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without
shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed.
Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree
damage is likely.
