Poplarville FIRE Department

Today at 2:06 p.m., Poplarville Fire Department was dispatched to Poplarville High School for a building on fire. Engine 1 arrived on scene a found smoke coming from the roof of the administration area. Firefighters quickly located the area of the fire and extinguished the fire bringing the situation under control. Thank you to North Pearl River County Fire Service, Southeast Fire Department, Carriere Fire Department, and Henlyfield Fire Department for sending manpower and equipment. Also thank you to the Poplarville Police Department for keeping traffic and pedestrians clear of the scene. Awesome job by everyone involved!

Poplarville Fire Department station phones are down. If you have an emergency call 911. Business hours non-emergency calls (8-5) you can call City Hall at 601-795-8161. We will notify you as soon as they are back up.

Last night Poplarville Fire Department hosted training. The training was a multi-company drill with Pearl River County Fire Service. The drill consisted of search and rescue operations in a smoke filled enviroment. This training is key for multi agency responses to structure fires. Thank you to Captain Hunter Averett who coordinated the drill and all of the firefighters that attended the training.

UPDATE: Picayune Community Saferoom Located at 501 Laurel Street will also open this afternoon at 5PM (11.10.25) to 7:30A (11.11.25) Pets are not allowed, please bring anything you may need (food, water, etc.)

Due to dangerous cold conditions forecast tonight the Poplarville Community Saferoom located at 124 Rodeo street will open as a warming center from 5PM tonight (Monday 11/10/25) to 8 AM tomorrow (Tuesday 11/11/25). Pets are not allowed, please bring anything you may need (food, water, etc.)
