UPCOMING EVENTS SEPTEMBER

Goodbye August, Hello September. The fall brings a variety of exciting events throughout the community. Here is what I have compiled thus far.

Tuesday Sept. 1 at 5:30pm BraveHearts Therapeutic Riding & Educational Center will be hosting their new volunteer orientation.

Tuesday Sept. 8th at 6pm is the Village of Poplar Grove, Illinois planning and zoning meeting at 6pm at Village Hall.

Wednesday Sept. 9th is the Village of Poplar Grove, Illinois Board of Trustee meeting at 7pm at Village Hall.

Friday Sept. 11th Golf Course is hosting a Couples 9 Hole Airplane Golf and Dinner event starting at 5:15pm

Saturday Sept. 12th is Barktoberfest 2026 hosted by Small Town Heart at Mortimer's RoadhousMortimer's Roadhouse

Saturday Sept. 12th Bar and Grill is hosting two bands starting at 8pm; Split Signal & Blind Panik.

Sunday Sept. 13th is the Lions Club Poplar Grove IL Poplar Grove Community Market from 10am to 3pm in the Snyder's and Pacemaker's parking lot.

The Lions Club Poplar Grove IL will be selling Steer Raffle tickets at the PG Community Market and having the drawing for the winners.

Sunday Sept. 20th from 3pm to 7pm see AKRRRB at Roadhouse

Wednesday Sept. 23rd is the Village of Poplar Grove Board of Trustee meeting at 7pm at Village Hall.

Wednesdays Roadhouse is the Smokin Aces poker tournaments from 6:30pm -9:30pm

Happy Sunday PG! It's amazing we find ourselves heading into September already.

Last week was a plug and chug kind of week. I attended a few typical monthly meetings to keep updated status on various projects, as well as attending the 2nd Board of Trustees meeting.

Wednesday I also had the privilege of attending the Ribbon Cutting ceremony at La Michoacana Café

~Looking Ahead~
I will be in the office Monday, Wednesday & Friday 9am to 2:30pm and Tuesday and Thursday 1pm - 4:3pm.

Be advised our Pavement & Sidewalk Program work will be getting underway this week, so be prepared for construction in various locations in town.

Reminder that Frontier and Surf are still working on fiber installation in town. Please see this link for status updates. https://www.poplargrove-il.gov/community/page/frontier-surf-internet-installation-project-status

The Village offices will be CLOSED Monday Sept. 7th in observance Labor Day.

* Meeting Minutes from Aug. 12, 2026 - PASSED
* No Public Comment
* Department Reports we provided for Collector, Public Works, Treasurer, Wastewater, and Engineering.
* Resolution 2026-35 to install fencing at White and Beaver Lift Station for $20,290 - PASSED
* Discussion on Donation Ordinance/Policy - this will return with edits to rough draft, answers from legal, for further discussion.
* Discussion on reactivating the Park Advisory Committee - appointment of Trustee Costanza at the next meeting. We will begin taking resumes for those who wish to serve on this committee. (More to come).
* Check disbursements totaling $105,756.13 - PASSED
* Resolution 2026-44 retaining Troy Lee Excavating for Village Hall parking lot repairs - PASSED
* Ordinance 2026-20 adding language to Section 6-2-4-3 about responsibility of lien filing expenses due to Delinquent Payments - PASSED
* Discussed any possible changes to the Village Organization Chart. This will return as an ordinance.
* Discussed any possible changes to the Fall Quarterly Newsletter
* Entered into Executive Session at 8:09pm

Candidate for Trustee can begin circulation on Aug. 25, 2026. Please see the State Board of elections website for nomination paperwork. You can also see this Village website page for more details and resources: https://www.poplargrove-il.gov/clerk/page/elections

Village Hall will be closed on Monday Sept. 7th in observance of Labor Day.

Planning and Zoning meeting Tuesday Sept. 8th at 6pm at Village Hall

Next Board of Trustees meeting is Wednesday Sept 9th, at 7pm at Village Hall.
