“A” Shift starting off their Saturday morning with an attic fire. The initial report stated they were unsure if anyone was home. They arrived on scene with heavy smoke showing. They immediately went into rescue mode and started their primary search, thankfully no one was home. They were able to extinguish the fire quickly to avoid major damage to the house. Everyone went home safe!!

🚒 Ever wonder how your Poplar Bluff Fire Department is staffed?

PBFD protects our community 24 hours a day, 365 days a year from three fire stations across the city.

When a shift is fully staffed, 9 total personnel are on duty across those three stations — from the Battalion Chief responsible for incident command, to the officers and firefighters staffing our frontline companies.

Each station and each member has a role in making the system work. When the tones drop, these crews quickly respond to handle fire suppression, rescue operations, and various other emergencies that our community relies on us for.

PBFD is doing their annual ladder testing. Ladder testing is an important part of fire department safety because we depend on them to perform rescues, gain access to buildings, ventilate structures, and fight fires-often under extreme conditions. It’s an investment in firefighter safety and the safety of the citizens they serve.

Earlier this week we had members from “B” & “C” shifts participate in a boat operations training. Low frequency and High Risk emergencies are what our department strives to always stay prepared for!
