Road to Restoration – Free clinic to help Michigan residents restore their driver’s licenses
Transportation barriers often prevent parents from earning income to provide for their children. For example, 61.5 percent of parents who currently participate in the Learn, Earn, and Provide (LEAP) pilot program have some kind of transportation barrier. One of these barriers is the lack of a valid driver’s license.
The Michigan Department of State (MDOS) is offering a free clinic to help some Michigan residents restore their driving privileges. Residents who participate in the Road to Restoration clinic will meet one-on-one with MDOS staff and volunteer attorneys about the steps needed to reinstate their driver’s license. IV-D staff are encouraged to inform parents about this clinic. It will be offered in:
• Detroit on September 13 and October 4;
• St. Clair Shores on September 23;
• Battle Creek on October 18; and
• Dearborn Heights on November 16.
More information may be found on the MDOS website:

It is highly recommended that parents pre-register for the clinics since space may be limited.
Note: Road to Restoration is not a DUI/DWI/OWI expungement clinic, and license reinstatement is not guaranteed. Reinstatement is assessed on an individual basis in accordance with state law.
