In November, three lanes will be open in each direction of I-96 between Kent Lake Road and I-275, with all ramps open. Work on the shoulders/flex lanes and ramp meters/signals will continue and are expected to be operational in early 2025.

Funding for this project is made possible by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer's Rebuilding Michigan program to rebuild the state highways and bridges that are critical to the state's economy and carry the most traffic. The investment strategy is aimed at fixes that result in longer useful lives and improves the condition of the state's infrastructure.

Based on economic modeling, this $269 million investment is expected to directly and indirectly support 3,416 jobs.

The following is an update from the Novi Police Department regarding the incident which occurred last evening in the Suburban Collection Showplace parking lot:

· The incident occurred in the parking lot southwest of the Suburban Collection Showplace, NOT in the fair itself
· Two victims, both 14 years old, were both shot
· The incident appears to have been targeted as it seems to have stemmed from an ongoing argument
· A suspect has not been identified at this time

On Saturday, August 31, at approximately 9:56PM, police officers stationed at the Michigan State Fair heard guns shots coming from the area southwest of the Suburban Collection Showplace in the parking lot near Grand River Avenue. Initial police radio traffic came out as an active shooter which prompted a very heavy police response from several surrounding law enforcement agencies.

Two 14-year old victims were shot. Both were transported to a hospital where one died from his injuries. The other is in stable condition.

Initial investigation reveals the two victims took an Uber from Detroit to Farmington Hills and then another Uber from there to the Fair with some friends. It appears this incident may have stemmed from an argument throughout the week which occurred in other communities that carried over to Saturday night and their arrival at the Fair parking lot.

There are no suspects at this time. The investigation is ongoing.

This is an isolated incident which occurred in the parking lot of the Suburban Collection Showplace. There was no shooting inside the fair.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact the Novi Police Department at 248.348.7100

Two 14-year-olds were shot, one fatally, at the Michigan State Fair in Novi on Saturday, according to police.
