Today was a big day. 🎉

Not only was it the first day of a new school year, it was the first day students stepped into our new CTEC facility for class!

After years of planning and months of watching this building take shape, these spaces are officially doing what they were built to do: giving students throughout our region opportunities to learn by doing, build real-world skills, explore careers, and prepare for what comes next.

We’re incredibly grateful to the Idaho Career Ready Students (ICRS) grant for making this expansion of career and technical education possible and to the many community partners who have supported CTEC along the way.

AND one week from today, we get to welcome our community inside!

All LPOSD schools and offices are closed today in observance of Labor Day.

We hope our students, staff, families, and community enjoy a safe and relaxing holiday as we celebrate the contributions of workers throughout our community and across the country.

Learning begins long before the first day of kindergarten, and READY! for Kindergarten gives families fun, practical ways to help build those early skills at home.

The first workshop at Southside Elementary School is just three weeks away, with more workshops coming throughout the year in both Cocolalla and Sandpoint! These FREE workshops are open to families throughout our community, not just those currently enrolled in LPOSD.

Three weeks until READY! for Kindergarten comes to Cocolalla! 🎉

Parents, grandparents, and caregivers of children ages 3–5 are invited to join us at 📍 Elementary on 🗓️ Saturday, September 26 for our first Cocolalla READY! for Kindergarten workshop!

This FREE Language & Literacy workshop is packed with simple, research-based ways to help little ones build early reading and language skills through everyday play and routines. Plus, families go home with free educational toys and materials to keep the learning going! AND we’ll have free childcare available on-site so you can fully focus on learning and connecting!

It doesn't get much cuter than this! 🐾📚🧡

Every year, our friends at PAFE give every LPOSD first grader a reading puppy to read with, learn with, and keep throughout their elementary years (and, for many students, long after!). As students reach reading milestones, they can even earn new supplies for their puppy along the way.

It’s an incredibly fun tradition, but it’s also part of something much bigger. Between PAFE’s Ready to Read program and READY! for Kindergarten workshops, our Every Student Graduates a Reader initiative, and the work happening in our classrooms every day, our youngest readers have an entire community cheering them on.

That collective effort is making a difference: LPOSD now ranks #2 in the state for K–3 reading among Idaho’s 25 largest traditional public school districts! 🎉

Students of all grades and from all schools are invited to attend Life After High School on September 23 at Sandpoint High School. Connect with more than 30 universities and organizations, explore post-high school options, and get help with scholarships, financial aid, Idaho LAUNCH, and more.
