Today marks the 1st day of Hurricane Season! Don’t wait until the cone is headed your way to prepare! ⏳👀

Here are a few easy ways to stay storm ready:

🧃 Stock up on water & snacks
🔋 Charge phones, power banks & flashlights
📄 Keep important documents in a safe place
⛽ Don’t wait until the last minute for gas
🐾 Make a plan for your pets too!
📻 Stay weather aware & monitor local alerts

We at Eighth Ward Fire would like to give a huge thanks to our brothers and sisters at Loranger Fire and Husser Fire. Eighth Ward Fire responded to reports of a residential structure fire yesterday at approximately 9:30PM on the northern end of our coverage area. Upon arrival of the fire chief, a heavily involved residence was found. Bystanders advised the chief of someone possibly inside; Husser and Loranger were called for man power and water. Personnel were able to make a search and deem no one was inside, this was later backed by family advising all were accounted for. Fire personnel continued into the early morning hours on scene to fully extinguish the blaze. Thank you Husser and Loranger for always answering the call!

Hwy 445 between Hwy 22 and Fireside, just south of Fireside, is closed in both directions due to a tree on the power line. We will update when the roadway is opened. Please avoid the area.

Thank you to Aaron’s Towing for lending us the cars. Unfortunately, they won’t be receiving them in the same condition.

*UPDATE* Our units have cleared the scene. Still expect delays and the use of an alternate route is encouraged. There are two separate accidents now causing traffic issues. Please slow down and move over as there are still agencies on scene at both locations working.

Eighth Ward Fire is on scene of a MVA on I-12 MM52 EB. Expect delays. Please use caution in the area and allow our personnel and other agencies to work safely.

Hwy 22 is open in both directions.

Hwy 22 Eastbound is open now. Westbound remains closed. Expect delays. Please use caution in the area as there are troopers working a crash scene and tow trucks will be arriving soon.

TheHwy 22 at E Sam Arnold is currently closed in both directions. Please use an alternate route if possible.
