The City of Ponca would like to inform residents that Great Plains Communications will be beginning a fiber installation project in Ponca within the next two weeks.

This project will include the installation of fiber-optic service to residences throughout the community. For residents outside the city limits, the project area will also include homes located along State Spur 26E to Ponca State Park, as well as residences along 592 Avenue and 879th Road extending to the Missouri River.

Additional project details, including an updated start date and project map, will be provided by Great Plains Communications. Once received, this information will be posted and shared with the public.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation as this infrastructure improvement project gets underway.

S2 Refuse: Residential garbage pickup will be tomorrow (Thursday, May 28th) starting around noon. It was scheduled to occur today, however, pickup after the Monday holiday took longer than expected. Sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused. Commercial pickup in the City of Ponca is still occurring today.

There will be no parking in downtown on Sunday, May 31st from 2:00 AM until noon for the Tour Nebraska Car Show. This includes all streets South of Second St. and East of Nebraska St. (State Spur 26E). Thanks for your cooperation. Come out and enjoy the car show with over 450 classic cars and trucks.

City of Ponca and surrounding residents: The NDOT will have several projects in our area this spring and summer.

1. Bridge reconstruction on the bridge adjacent to the entrance to Ponca will begin approximately March 23rd. It is the NDOT's goal to maintain two lanes of traffic as much as possible with no traffic signal at the bridge.

2. The bridge 2 miles east of town on Highway 12 (northwest of 876 Rd.) will have repair work done and require traffic signals. A date is not set for this work to start.

3. The bridge approximately 3 miles east of Newcastle (located just east of 586 Avenue will also have repair work requiring a traffic signal. A date is not set for this work to start.

4. Highway Repair work and resurfacing between Ponca and Willis, and between Ponca and Newcastle on Highway 12 are planned to occur this summer.

As we receive more information on these projects, we will post further details.
