💚 September is Healthy Aging Month!

Healthy aging is about more than adding years to life. It is about maintaining independence, staying connected, and enjoying the place you call home.

At Kay County Senior Connections, we believe older adults should have the support and resources they need to age in place safely, independently, and with dignity.

Staying active, eating well, keeping your mind engaged, maintaining meaningful connections, and having access to support can all make a difference in living well at every age.

This month, we celebrate our seniors and the families, caregivers, volunteers, and community partners who help make aging in place possible. 💙

Healthy aging. Independent living. Stronger connections.

💚 Today, on National Senior Citizens Day, we recognize the older adults who have helped shape and strengthen our communities.

As the Baby Boomer generation ages, more families are also facing the financial realities that can come with growing older. In 2024, half of households headed by someone age 65 or older were either living in poverty or considered ALICE, meaning their income was above the federal poverty level but still not enough to afford basic household necessities.

For many older adults, rising costs for housing, food, health care, transportation, and caregiving can make maintaining financial stability increasingly difficult.

At Kay County Senior Connections, we believe aging should come with dignity, security, connection, and access to the resources needed to thrive.

That is why connecting seniors and their families with available resources is so important. Whether someone needs help navigating Medicare, caregiver support, transportation, meals, benefits, or other services, knowing where to turn can make a difference.

On National Senior Citizens Day, let’s celebrate our seniors while continuing to build a community where every older adult has the opportunity to age well. 💚
