🪖 Put safety first - wear a helmet every ride!

Students at the Kakiat STEAM Academy Summer Rollout learned how to ride safely this summer. Rockland County Department of Health staff shared important bicycle safety tips and showed students how to properly fit and wear a helmet.

A special thank you to the New York State PTA for donating bicycle helmets and to the Rockland County Department of Health for providing bicycle reflectors to help young riders stay safe and visible.

When we teach safe riding habits early, we help prevent injuries and keep our community active, healthy, and moving all summer long! 🚲☀️

A Matter of Balance is an 8-week series designed to help participants reduce their fear of falling, increase confidence, and stay active. Classes are led by trained coaches and provide practical strategies to help prevent falls.

🚨 Getting Ready to Serve Our Community 🚨

Staff from several Rockland County Department of Health programs joined our Emergency Preparedness Team for a hands-on shelter setup exercise.

Together, they practiced setting up our inflatable drive-through shelter, which can be used during emergencies to provide medications, vaccines, masks, water, and other important supplies. The shelter can also support community vaccination clinics throughout the year.

Practice and training help us stay ready to respond when our community needs us most.

Thank you to all the staff who took part in this exercise. Your hard work and teamwork help strengthen our ability to protect the health and safety of Rockland County residents!
