Happy Labor Day!

Once upon a time when Democrats at least pretended to support working men and women, labor unions were one of their most reliable voting blocks and source of campaign funds. As the Democratic Party gradually sold out to Wall Street (see our Chuck Schumer post), Big Pharma (see our Sen Raphael Warnock D-GA post) and endless billionaires who donated to Kamala Harris (way more than did to Trump) and last but not least numerous bad trade deals, many labor unions have shifted their support to candidates that will actually fight for them.

You know...like candidates that will actually show up and stand up on a debate stage.

No statewide Republican candidate better exemplifies this refreshing shift in labor union support than Jay Edwards who is our Republican Nominee for Ohio Treasurer. The list of labor unions that have been backing him is far too long for us to list them all, but here are a few of them:

Affiliated Construction Trades Ohio
Operating Engineers
Laborer's Union (numerous locals)
NW Ohio Building&Construction Trades Council
International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (numerous locals)
Indiana/Kentucky/Indiana Building & Construction Trades Council
Ohio Conference of Teamsters
Fraternal Order of Police of Ohio
Columbus Building & Construction Trades Council
Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen
International Union of Painters and Allied Trades
Ohio Ironworkers
Plumbers and Pipefitters (numerous locals)
Cleveland Building and Construction Trade Council
International Brothers of Boilermakers Local Lodge 85
Lima Building and Construction Trades Council..and several more!

Sorry Democrats but the US economy added 162K jobs in August 2026, the most in five months, following an upwardly revised 23K rise in July and much higher than market expectations of 56K. Employment in manufacturing continued its upward trend (16K) and increases were also seen in employment in machinery manufacturing (6K) and in fabricated metal product manufacturing (6K). Employment in health care continued to trend up (13K), led by home health care services (11K) and hospitals (8K).

It is hard for many Democrats to accept good news like job creation especially when it happens under Republican Leadership. A $500Billion investment into the old Piketon Uranium Enrichment with an estimated 35,000 construction jobs, CNBC announcing Ohio is the #1 state to do business in, 4000 jobs at Anduril's Asheville facility that is ahead of schedule, the $4Billion announced advanced nuclear facility near Letart Falls, or even the $115Billion invested in oil&gas production in Ohio since 2011...just to name a few. The only people opposed were on the so called "progressive" Left.

To be fair, there are some jobs that today's Democrats will celebrate. For example, the occasional new solar installation of Chinese Slave Made Solar Panels on a clothing optional, organic commune in Athens County...commonly referred to as "green jobs" by The Left That will get PLENTY of love from them! It remains to be seen whether they'll be able to refrain from planting shade trees next to the solar panels like the Wayne National Forest HQ near Nelsonville did...or were those trees planted first and the panels were placed in the shade?

On Saturday in Hamilton, Ohio Amy Acton attempted to speak to a labor rally and shared the stage with former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, who you may remember from his East Palestine train derailment debacle. There's a clip of Amy's remarks on X that's been shared a lot already because of how inebriated she appeared to be. We went to CSPAN and watched the entire speech to see if this was just a fluke or perhaps just taken out of context. It wasn't. She appeared to be either heavily medicated, intoxicated, or both. Honestly it was pretty sad.

We strongly encourage you to look it up on CSPAN and see for yourself. Not sure which is worse- someone who claims to be a "fighter" and "will fight for you" yet won't even stand up on a debate stage or someone who gives a campaign speech for Ohio Governor while plastered. With her you apparently get both.

09/05/2026

For just the 2nd time in the last 48 years, Ohio voters will not have the opportunity to see a debate between the candidates for Governor. To be clear, the quitting COVID Queen Amy Acton has now refused to participate and it proves just how pathetic of a shell of a candidate she always was. Zero courage. You'd think The Left would realize that she will never stand up for them when the pressure is on...but noooo. Just watch the mental gymnastics they will display in defending her cowardice as they spew their usual hate in the comments while claiming to be so "tolerant and open minded" We always wonder how many of these hate filled malcontents also have those phony, virtue signaling "COEXIST" bumper stickers and "hate has no home here" yard signs?

Now let's see if defeated septuagenarian geezer Sherrod Brown will actually debate. At the rate he's been slipping lately, we expect his performance will be reminiscent of then President Joe Biden's public implosion in June of 2024. In case you forgot, it was SO bad that he pulled out of the race a few weeks later after numerous wealthy Democratic donors threatened to cut off the money, which goes to show you WHAT AND WHO actually controls their party.

09/04/2026

As we recently posted, some pockets of Ohio (like our mostly crumbling, high crime rate big cities) have been completely run by Democrats for decades. Here's a partial list of their 2010-2025 All Star Team. Be sure to read about the former Democrat State Senator and Cuyahoga County Judge who is serving a life sentence for aggravated murder. Democrats take that whole "vote blue, no matter who" thing seriously!

Frank Russo Cuyahoga County Auditor 21 counts of bribery, racketeering, and tax scheme (guilty plea) Sentenced Dec. 15, 2010

Bridget McCafferty Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Judge 10 counts of making false statements to FBI agents Convicted March 2011

This list kinda makes the City of Athens wiring $700,000 to a scammer seem comparatively mild, although some in their Fire Department might have good reason to disagree.

Regular readers of our page know that we try to offer accurate historical election analysis. This year, Ohio Democrats have been rerunning their failed 2016 playbook of pushing a defeated, washed up old geezer (Sherrod Brown) for statewide office. In 2016 they had the same brilliant idea and ran former Congressman and defeated 1-term Ohio Governor Ted Strickland. Recall that Ted was voted out in 2010, although he pulled a respectable 47% of the vote which is about a half point better than fellow geezer Sherrod Brown got in 2024.

So how'd it work out when the aging Ted Strickland staged his comeback 2016? He led in some polls into early summer. Then he lost 84 counties! Yes, 84 counties including all of his former Appalachian Congressional District Counties except Athens. He even lost Meigs County, which he'd ALWAYS carried going back to at least 1992? What happened???

MSNBC spent the next several years blaming the 2016 election outcome on Russia and every night Democrats bought into that stupid narrative from Rachel Maddow. Ratings went up and she made millions. To be fair, believing that fairy tale was probably easier than admitting that Hillary and Ted were both lousy candidates, which they were. Ted railed against Wall Street while Hillary took nearly $3Million in speaking fees from Wall Street Banks like Goldman Sachs...they sure made for quite a pair! And what did the Dems shout after she did that? "vote blue no matter who" and then wondered why thousands voted for Green Party Candidate Jill Stein in the states where they hadn't kicked her off the ballot. Kind of ironic coming from the same pearl clutchers who are always screaming that our Democracy is in danger, huh!

But really, who knew that Russia's $4,700 worth of Google ads and maybe $100K in poorly done Fb ads was all it would take to defeat Hillary's BILLION DOLLAR CAMPAIGN effort, lol? She even lost almost all of the swing states too so those must be some reeeaaally talented campaign consultants over in St Petersburg!

Maybe the Ohio Democratic Party could hire "the Russians" to improve on the remarkably consistent 43-47% their best performing statewide candidates have rec'd since 2016. (see our 8/4/26 post) That's about as likely as Sherrod Brown ever finding the mythical Fountain of Youth. They will continue to give their donors' funds to the same politically connected firms that assisted in their numerous past defeats. But progressives can at least celebrate that the Democratic campaign consultants and Rachel Maddow got rich.

09/01/2026

After reading weeks of hate filled comments on our page from the self proclaimed "open minded and tolerant" Left, we continue to laugh at how many Democrats still cling to the notion of being the "Party of the Working Class" as their most powerful elected official Senator Chuck Schumer, continues to be the lifetime LEADING recipient of Wall Street campaign cash. As a side note, he's also long been one of the leading supporters of Israel, even as public opinion polls show that nearly 80% of Democrats and Democratic leaning independents express an unfavorable view of Israel (Pew Research Poll).

Apparently when Democrats wave their fists in the air screaming "vote blue no matter who" they really mean it!

Here in Ohio, there are several places where "vote blue no matter who" has yielded the expected results. Our largest cities have been Democratic Party fiefdoms for decades, if not generations, and persistently have violent crime rates FAR higher than the rest of Ohio.

Or just take a short drive up to The People's Republic of Athens where yet another tax hike was just passed on the heels of wiring $700,000 intended to pay for the new fire department to a scammer. How'd that happen? Good question! Since the Athens City Auditor (and every elected official in the city) was/is a Democrat...she got a pass. Yes...a pass! No protests, no outrage, NOTHING! If the City Auditor had been Republican, we guarantee the angry blue mob would've shown up with pitchforks, (organic) tar, and (recycled) feathers. Maybe, just maybe there will be a finding for recovery issued here by the State Auditor. There could be some recent precedent to do so...guess we will have to wait and see! If so, maybe ActBlue can cover it.

You may also recall our post in January when only 2 out of 7 Democrat Athens City Council Members refused to stand up for the Pledge of Allegiance. Democrat Mayor Patterson also sat through it on his @$$ as well, despite having served over 20yrs in the Air Force! Finally, not to be outdone, Democrat Council President Micah McCarey was just a moment late to his own meeting so he conveniently wasn't in council chambers when dozens of citizens stood up. A true blue profile in courage moment on his part as well. Perhaps next time he runs for State Rep, he could propose removing the Pledge of Allegiance from the Ohio General Assembly Session Days. Then we will see whether it's humanly possible to get even less than the 32% of the vote that he received in 2024.

After several weeks clouds and rain, Meigs County's Great Bend Solar Farm has been getting a few hours of actual sunlight again, so let's take a moment to see how that alleged "global energy transition away from fossil fuels" is actually coming along.

On one hand, new global solar and to a lessor extent wind installations are indeed growing at a fast pace. Their "nameplate capacity" is increasing but remember, their ACTUAL output in reality is a small % of that. Great Bend's is around 20%. But yes, global solar&wind installations are increasing at a fast rate.

But guess what? Global energy demand is growing even faster, so fossil fuel use is still increasing not decreasing. As we've shown here numerous times global coal, oil, and natural gas consumption still goes up virtually every year and has for well over a century.

Those of you who rely on mainstream "news" for information might not be used to this, but here is some actual CONTEXT to show how much wind&solar contribute to the global energy mix. Despite decades of massive government subsidies and mandates it's now a whopping 3.3%.

3.3% is not exactly what we'd call transformational. More like window dressing.

BTW-China accounts for over 80% of that global solar market. Does anyone know if the Uyghur slaves who make the Chinese solar panels have "Green Jobs"?

08/25/2026

Every 2 years going back to at least 2016 we've heard the Democrats tired prediction of a "big blue wave" headed for Ohio. As these maps (and others) show, their candidates have kept hitting a giant red brick wall in about 80/88 counties, many of which Democrats used to routinely win. "Used to" meaning back when the Democrats at least pretended to care about working men&women. Some may recall a time when a Democrat US Senator wasn't the TOP recipient of Wall Street cash (Chuck Schumer) or Democrats weren't the TOP recipients of Big Pharma PAC cash (like Senators Warnock-D Georgia, Biden, Bob Casey D-PA, Kamala Harris, Hillary Clinton)
Actually, Senator Chuck Schumer summed up the Modern Democratic Party really well at the 2016 National Convention:
"For every blue-collar Democrat we lose in western Pennsylvania, we will pick up two moderate Republicans in the suburbs in Philadelphia, and you can repeat that in Ohio and Illinois and Wisconsin."
i.e. "screw you working people, we want voters with money!"

Democrats on Fb get soooo mad when we point out these facts...read the profanity filled comments and picture them angrily pounding their keyboards with rage! Likely the very same people with a virtue signaling yard sign proclaiming "Hate Has No Home Here" and a phony "COEXIST" bumper sticker suggesting that they hold some morally superior sense of "tolerance" over the rest of us.

The three maps here show recent competitive elections in Ohio where both sides were well funded. Gen X "China, China, China" Tim Ryan fared the best...barely, while geezers Sherrod Brown and Rich Cordray pulled nearly identical results. For Democrats to realistically win a statewide election in Ohio, their candidates would have to find a way to win back some of their traditional base in either the Mahoning Valley and/or win back counties in Appalachia that Ted Strickland used to carry. (Hint: There is more to Appalachian Ohio than The People's Republic City of Athens, and BTW- Democrats used to win here) Again..."used to". Finally, part of such an effort would also need to include winning some of the lake counties and almost certainly Wood County, which as we recently covered will closely mirror statewide election results.

None of this is inside news or secret strategy. Any objective onlooker can clearly see that Ohio statewide Democratic Candidates have lost voters in counties/regions that were long with them. You'd think, somebody in their leadership would ask "Gee! We used to win here. Maybe just maaaaaybe we screwed up? Huh...wonder what it could be?" Considering that they continue to run the same retread geezers (Ted Strickland 2016, Brown 2026) and expect different outcomes suggests otherwise.

Speaking of retreads, Kamala Harris is still leading the pack of aspiring Democratic Presidential Candidates...but that's a post for another day!

On this day in history- August 23rd, 1814 British Troops were about to enter Washington DC during the Way of 1812. As you'd imagine, the President, First Lady and most everyone else fled. Truth be told, it was a mid level bureaucrat named Stephen Pleasonton who thought to grab the US Constitution, Bill of Rights, the Declaration of Independence, along with George Washington's Military Commission. He placed them in linen bags, loaded them on carts, and left DC just before the British Troops burned the White House, Capitol Building, and much of the city. He eventually hid them in a basement vault near Leesburg, VA until after the war.

Stephen Pleasonton went on to hold a long, rather controversial career overseeing the US lighthouses, which was a very big deal at the time.

He is buried in the Congressional Cemetery in Washington DC near his son, Civil War Major General Alfred Pleasonton.

BTW, the British only stayed for about a day b/c a massive, torrential downpour and a reported tornado soon occurred which put out the bonfires and helped save what was left of the buildings. We are not sure if those weather events were caused by climate change or not, but rest assured if it happens again tomorrow, climate change will get 100% of the credit.
