Today just before 330pm PRFD was dispatched to a reported grass fire off of Seifert Rd near Back Rd. Upon arrival, units found a fast moving fire burning through tall grass and mutual aid was requested from Ronan Volunteer Fire Department, City of Polson Fire Department, and CSKT Division of Fire. We were able to contain the fire at just under 10 acres.

The fire was human caused, and we want to remind the public that even with some rain and cooler weather, we are still in fire season and fires have potential to get out of control. In addition, debris burning is not open until October 1st.

We want to thank all assisting agencies for their help.

There is a marginal risk of severe thunderstorms by Sunday evening over much of Montana. The main impact from any severe storm will be strong wind gusts, small hail, and lightning. Plan ahead for the thunderstorm potential.

**Update 1:55pm**
Forward fire progression has been stopped with the fire measuring 3.2 acres. Crews are in mop up.

PRFD is responding to a confirmed fire in the Buffalo Bridge area. Please avoid the area. We do not have any additional information at this time.

We are under a lake wind advisory Wednesday 8/12/26 from 6pm to 12am.

Strong winds will develop ahead of an incoming cold front. Please watch the weather if your out on the lake today. Also strong winds with the current dry conditions will allow for new fires to spread rapidly. Please use caution if recreating outdoors.

Many have asked what a red flag warning is. Again Lake County will be in a red flag warning tomorrow from 12pm to 9pm.

Our area will be in a red flag warning Saturday 8/8/26 from noon to 9pm. We are also in stage 1 fire restrictions. Please use extreme caution to prevent wildfires.

Reminder as we start to see fires showing up in our area please keep the drones away.

If you fly, we can’t.

When drones are in the area, firefighting aircraft have to be grounded, putting crews and communities at risk. Keep your drone away from fire zones so firefighters can do their job safely.
