IT SEEMS LIKE WINTER IS GOING TO VISIT US ONE MORE TIME. THERE HAS NEVER BEEN A PRIMARY ELECTION LIKE THIS YEAR. AN ELECTION THAT HAS KEPT US FROM PUBLIC CONTACT AND CANDIDATES VIEWS, HOPES,PLEDGES, PROMISES, WORK ETHICS AND EXPERIENCE BEING EXPRESSED THROUGH DOOR TO DOOR CONTACTS, ONE ON ONE CONTACT, OR MEET THE CANDIDATES. WE HAVE BECOME DEPENDENT ON TECHNOLOGY TO CONVEY OUR CAMPAIGN.

THERE IS SUCH AN ADVANTAGE TO PERSONAL CONTACT OR INTERACTION. VOTERS GET TO EVALUATE EACH CANDIDATE AND THEIR STANCE ON IMPORTANT ISSUES. TO ASK QUESTIONS DIRECTLY AND EVALUATE THE TRUTH OF THEIR RESPONSE, AND EVEN THE PASSION IN THEIR VOICE TO THE OFFICE THEY SEEK.

THIS PRIMARY THERE IS THREE REPUBLICAN CANDIDATES FOR THE OFFICE OF SHERIFF IN MASON CO. THE PRIMARY WILL DETERMINE WHO WE AS VOTERS WANT TO REPRESENT OUR PARTY IN THE GENERAL ELECTION.

YOU PROBABLY ASK WHY SHOULD I VOTE FOR CURTIS "CURT" MCCONIHAY???

THE FIRST ADVANTAGE I FEEL I BRING TO THE TABLE IS EXPERIENCE. I WAS BOTH A MASON COUNTY DEPUTY AND A HENDERSON CITY PATROLMAN. MY CAREER STARTED IN JULY OF 1988 THEN CONTINUED THRU JAN 2012 WHEN I RETIRED FROM THE SHERIFF'S DEPT.

IN 2012 I FELT THE SHERIFF'S OFFICE WAS IN DISARRAY SO I RETIRED AND STARTED INTO POLITICS, TO CHANGE WHAT I FELT WAS THE WRONG DIRECTION THE DEPARTMENT WAS HEADING. I CONTINUED DOING THE SAME TYPE OF WORK AS A LICENSED PRIVATE INVESTIGATOR AND BAIL BONDING.

SECONDLY I WOULD GIVE MY WHOLE HEART TO THE POSITION OF SHERIFF. JULY 1, 1988 I WAS FORTUNATE TO BE HIRED INTO THE SHERIFF DEPT. AND KNEW INSTANTLY THAT I HAD FOUND NOT A JOB, BUT TRULY A CAREER. A GOOD FRIEND TOLD ME THROUGH THE YEARS THAT THERE IS A FINE LINE BETWEEN BEING A PUBLIC SERVANT AND A PUBLIC NUISANCE. I HAVE ALWAYS REMEMBERED THAT AND STROVE TO FOLLOW. IT'S MEANING IN LAW ENFORCEMENT YOU ARE ALWAYS HELD TO A HIGHER STANDARD AS A POLICE OFFICER.

THANK YOU FOR READING THIS I WILL HAVE MORE TO POST SOON. "CURT"

We had a republican meeting this evening. As we go forth promoting our values and direction that our party promotes it got me to thinking about qualities I would like to portray if elected your next Sheriff. An Acrostic for the word Sheriff could be as follows:

S - sincere

H - honest

E - experienced

R - responsible

I - integrity

F - fair

F - friendly

There are several characteristics that could also be descriptive of Sheriff, either more or less important.

I didn't come from a family involved in politics, but did come from a family that believed in hard work for what you got. My father started out as a business owner in Point Pleasant doing what he knew running a gas station as a auto mechanic then getting a union job at Kyser Aluminum. My mother was a stay at home mother who run and sweated on the farm she loved.

After I graduated high school I went on to business college and earned my Associate's Degrees. I worked a few different jobs until appling for and becoming a deputy sheriff. From day 1 I knew this was to be my profession. Now 30+ years later here I am wanting to be your Sheriff. Why you may ask? It is because this has been my profession, what I love to do, what I would be committed to doing the very best I could possibly do, to apply my experience and training to make mason co a safer place to live.

I feel that as your Sheriff we can together, to coin a phrase, MAKE MASON COUNTY GREAT.

I WOULD LIKE TO ANNOUNCE MY FILING FOR THE OFFICE OF SHERIFF IN MASON CO. THIS DECISION WAS TOUGH TO MAKE, CONSIDERING THE EVENTS OF THE PAST YEAR. MY LOVE FOR THIS COUNTY, FAMILY, FRIENDS, IT'S CHILDREN, AND OUR SENIORS HAS NOT WAVERED. I HAVE A STRONG DESIRE TO SEE OUR COUNTY SAFER AND THE BEST WAY TO ACCOMPLISH THIS IS BY BEING YOUR SHERIFF.

TOGETHER WE CAN WORK TO OVERCOME THE HE**IN, M**H, AND OP**TE EPIDEMIC FACING OUR COUNTY. WE CAN EXPAND THE CURRENT STREET LEVEL INTERDICTION AND FOCUS/PRESSURE THOSE INDIVIDUALS BRINGING ILLEGAL DRUGS INTO OUR COUNTY. IN DOING SO WE PRESSURE THE DEALERS THEREFORE SLOWING THE FLOW OF ILLEGAL DRUGS.

TO FORM AN ELITE DIVISION TO INVESTIGATE DRUGS, MAJOR CRIMES, AND ACTIVE SHOOTER RESPONSE. TO WORK HAND IN HAND WITH ALL LEVELS OF LAW ENFORCEMENT AND JURISDICTIONS.

TOGETHER WE CAN EDUCATE OUR YOUTH IN THE DANGERS OF TO***CO USE AND THE USE OF ILLEGAL DRUGS BY HAVING A STRONG AND DEDICATED DARE PROGRAM ALONG WITH A FULLY STAFFED PREVENTION RESOURCE OFFICER PROGRAM. OFFICERS IN THE SCHOOLS BUILDS GOOD RAPPORT WITH OUR YOUTH AS WELL AS A SAFER SCHOOL ENVIRONMENT TO LEARN AND BUILD CHARACTER.

I BELIEVE IN OUR SECOND AMENDMENT RIGHT AND I SEEN WHERE IT IS GOING TO BE BROUGHT IN FRONT OF OUR COUNTY COMMISSION ON FEB 6, 2020 TO BECOME A SANCTUARY COUNTY. PLEASE GIVE YOUR SUPPORT BY CONTACTING OR ATTENDING THE COMMISSION MEETING.

I WANT TO THANK ALL OF THOSE WHO HAVE SUPPORTED ME IN THE PAST AND ASK FOR YOUR CONTINUED SUPPORT. ADDITIONALLY I WOULD ASK FOR THOSE SUPPORTERS THAT WANT TO SEE SAFER SCHOOLS, SAFE ROADS,SAFER COMMUNITIES, COMMUNITY POLICING, AND A SHERIFF DEPT OF THE COMMUNITY, FOR THE COMMUNITY.

I WILL POST MORE AS THE SHERIFF'S RACE CONTINUES. FEEL FREE TO COMMENT HERE OR YOU CAN CALL AT 304.812.7932. THANKS FOR SUPPORT, CURT.
