🇺🇸 💥 SAFETY REMINDER FROM STATION 75 💥 🇺🇸

As we celebrate Independence Day, the Fire Department would like to remind everyone to celebrate safely and responsibly.

In New Jersey, only certain non-aerial, ground-based sparkling devices and novelties are permitted. Aerial and explosive fireworks, including bottle rockets, firecrackers, Roman candles, and similar devices, remain illegal without the proper permits.

Even legal fireworks can cause serious injuries and fires. Sparklers can burn extremely hot and should never be handled by young children. Please keep fireworks away from buildings, vehicles, dry grass, and spectators, and always have water nearby.

Have a safe and happy Fourth of July!

Yesterday at approximately 2:45 PM, the Point Pleasant Borough Fire Department was dispatched to the area of Sunrise Avenue and Shady Glenn Avenue for a working structure fire. Deputy Chief 7510 arrived within minutes and quickly upgraded the assignment to a second alarm as there were two residential structures heavily involved with live power lines down across the street. Chief 7500 arrived and assumed Incident Command. Fire units began initial attack on the structures involved as well as protecting the exposures. Due to the heavy wind conditions, and high heat conditions, the fire was then upgraded to a third alarm bringing additional resources and manpower to the scene. The fire was contained to the two structures and no one was hurt during the operation. Units were on scene for approximately 3 1/2 hours. The scene was turned over to the Ocean County Fire Marshall’s Office and the Point Pleasant Borough Police Department for the fire investigation.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the families affected.

You may not see it, but we train for the worst-case scenario so we can deliver the best outcome. This weeks focus: Rapid Intervention Team (RIT). RIT are the firefighters assigned to rescue firefighters if something goes wrong inside a structure fire.

Preparation saves lives. Training saves lives.

🚒❄️ Help Us Help You ❄️🚒

After a snowfall, please take a few minutes to clear snow around the fire hydrant near your home or business. In an emergency, every second counts and a cleared hydrant helps firefighters get water flowing faster.

A good rule of thumb is to clear at least 3 feet around the hydrant and a path to the street.

Your small effort can make a big difference for your family, your neighbors, and our firefighters. Thank you for helping keep our community safe.
