Shimer Mansion

Shimer Mansion Shimer Mansion (ca. 1850) is an historic house in Pohatcong Township, NJ. It is owned and being restored by the Pohatcong History & Heritage Society.

The Shimer Mansion was built by banker and gentleman farmer William B. Shimer circa 1850. In the 20th century, the farm was subdivided into a residential development named Shimer Manor. By the 21st century, the historic house was abandoned. In 2015, the Pohatcong History & Heritage Society took on the stewardship of Shimer Mansion through a generous donation by the Carpenter Family. The PHHS is working to restore the property as a community center and gallery for local artists.
