We've loved being a part of Pocatello for almost 120 years! We're grateful for those who recognized the importance of libraries and worked to build them in our community.

Our is the site of the amazing ! This photo is a wonderful reminder of those who have gone before us and paved the way to where we are today. Founded in 1904 as the Pocatello Public Library, the passion behind it was the Pocatello Womens Civic Club and Dr. Minnie Howard. A substaintial donation was received in 1908 by Andrew Carnegie-that money was used to build the Carnegie Library that sits on the corner of Center St. and Garfield Ave. Fast forward 100+ years, and another project funded largely by Barbara & Wendell Marshall in the late 1990’s which expanded the footprint of the library we enjoy today. This photo tells so many stories! No pavement yet, and a group of women are seen standing on the sidewalk near the corner. It was a different time. A different place. Today the library is open to all who seek knowledge and information in the form of books, multimedia, old city directories and so much more! With a wonderful staff who keeps things fresh and interesting for all who enter, our library is the real gem in the heart of our downtown!

The library will be closed on Monday, May 25th for Memorial Day. We will reopen on Tuesday, May 26th at 10am.

We need your help! Our puzzle exchange program is running low on children's puzzles (100 pieces or less). If you have any at home that aren't being used anymore, we'd love to add them to our collection of puzzles. Didn't know we had a puzzle exchange program? We do! Bring in a puzzle, and take a new one home!
