Was honored to attend the Martin Luther King Day Brunch on Saturday hosted by our local NAACP Chapter. Chubbuck Mayor Rodney Burch and myself read a joint proclamation declaring the week of January 18 as MLK week in our communities.

The Pocatello Branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) hosted their annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebration earlier this morning. This year's celebration was a brunch in the student union building at Idaho State University.

Prior to yesterday’s city council meeting, I contacted Mayor Blad and several council members to share my position that the hiring of a new CFO should be postponed until January, allowing the incoming council and me to participate in a decision that will directly shape our administration.

Mayor Blad and the current council chose to proceed with the hire regardless. While I disagree with the timing, they retain full authority until January 8, and the decision was theirs to make. I would like to judge the CFO on his merits once I am in the position to do so.

I remain energized about our plan for Pocatello! I am committed to ensuring a smooth transition, building a collaborative and forward-looking team, and being laser-focused on serving the people of our city starting on day one.
