The Idaho State University Public Safety Department has become aware of a phone scam involving individuals falsely posing as ISU Public Safety. These scammers are contacting people by phone and claiming that blood has been found in their vehicle and that they are under investigation unless they take immediate action.

We want to reassure the community that Idaho State University Public Safety will never contact you in this manner to threaten immediate action over the phone.

These tactics are common red flags for fraud. We strongly urge you not to engage with these callers or provide any personal or financial information.

We understand that receiving such a call can be alarming, but please remember this is a scam intended to exploit community members. If you receive such a call, hang up immediately.
You can report the incident to ISU Public Safety by calling (208) 282-2515 after you hang up.

⚠️ Weather Alert – Use Caution ⚠️
We are receiving reports of fallen trees and downed powerlines due to extreme weather. Please use caution when driving and when exiting your home if you are near these hazards.
Police and Fire personnel are working to reopen roads and secure affected areas while utilities work to shut off power to impacted lines.
If you see a downed powerline, assume it is live and follow these safety tips.
• Stay at least 30 feet away from the line and anything touching it.
• Do not attempt to move the line or objects around it.
• Avoid driving over or stepping near water that may be energized.
• If a powerline falls on your vehicle, stay inside until emergency personnel arrive.
• Call 911 or the utility company to report downed lines immediately.

Report dangerous conditions immediately.
Stay safe and avoid unnecessary travel if possible.

On this day, we honor the nearly 3,000 lives lost on September 11, 2001, and the countless first responders, families, and communities forever changed.

We pause to reflect on the courage shown in the face of tragedy, the resilience of our nation, and the importance of standing together.

May we never forget.

FYI for those living in Chubbuck .

Update: The City of Chubbuck’s water system has been disinfected and flushed and water samples were taken at multiple locations throughout the city. The testing shows that the water is safe to consume. DEQ has given us permission to lift the boil advisory. The Boil Water Advisory that was issued on 8/7/2025 is no longer in effect. Thank you to everyone for your patience and understanding.

The City of Chubbuck has issued a boil water advisory until further notice for all homes served by the city’s water system after a critical main water line break that led to a significant loss of water pressure. We recognize that this advisory is an inconvenience but the health and safety of our water and community is our top priority!
