is the historic Whitman building, which began life as a 2 story building in 1905 as an Eagles Lodge! Less than 10 years later, between 1913 & 1914 the building was redeveloped into a 4 story structure and a hotel was born. First as the Hotel St. Marie and later as the Hotel Nicollet, as well as home to the Princess Theater. (above photo shows Princess Theater marquis) and is famous for being the mythological birthplace of Judy Garland in “A Star is Born” (the song that refers to Pocatello Idaho is ‘Born in a Trunk’) The building was rehabilitated in the 1990’s and is now affordable housing property with an architects office on the main floor. If you look at the two photos, you can see the two story foundation and the number of windows on the original structure that was integrated later. A building with amazing history that continues to be a vital part of our downtown! ⭐️
