At approximately 8:10 this morning, the station crew received a call from a resident requesting assistance with a horse that was unable to stand.

Because the situation required specialized equipment and training, the station requested a response from the Plymouth County Technical Rescue Team. The team arrived with a trailer equipped for large-animal rescue, along with technicians from departments across Plymouth County.

Assets from the Plympton Police and Plympton Highway Department also responded to assist.

Working together, these resources were able to safely assist the horse to its feet. Once the horse was standing, care was turned over to his veterinary team.

No further information about the horse's condition is available at this time, but we continue to wish him and his owners the very best.

Responses like this highlight the importance of having county-wide technical rescue resources available when specialized equipment and expertise are needed. They also demonstrate the value of cooperation between multiple public safety agencies and municipal departments.

This week the what3words app is kicking off their campaign. This has been an invaluable tool used by the Regional Old Colony Communications Center and the Plympton Fire department recently to assist hikers lost in Catos Ridge and a person having a medical incident. The system generates 3 unique words for every GPS coordinated place on earth. You can put in the location and navigate to that location. It is free to download and is a great tool when trying to find someone. The attached photos show an e,ample of the Plympton Fire Department and a trail in Catos Ridge.

Last night at approximately 10:00pm Plympton Firefighters were dispatched to the area of 52 Palmer Rd (Route 58) for a Motorcycle accident vs vehicle. The patient was trapped under the vehicle. On duty personnel and recall personnel from home were on scene in less than 4 minutes after the initial call. The patient was extricated in about 2 minutes from under the vehicle using a hydraulic spreader tool to lift the vehicle. Boston MedFlight was called and the Landing Zone at Walmart in Halfiax was used to transport the patient to a Boston Trauma Center. The patients condition is unknown at this time. We would like to thank our partners for assistance with response, Landing Zone Assistance, and coordination of the incident.
