While they like to call it food insecurity, let's be honest and call it what it really is: FOOD POVERTY.

The monastery engages with those who have been marginalized—those at the fringes of society, the needy, and the powerless, including those whom too many have pushed away from Jesus through their actions and lack of love as Christ loved. We understand that where Christ is, His Church is also there. We recognize that among the homeless, the disenfranchised, the unheard, and the invisible, Christ is present.

The Monastery of the Holy Martyrs and Orthodox Workers Community is very simple. We feed folks!

Many times, the monastery gets food and other items in bulk. We repackage them before handing them out. To do this more efficiently, the monastery needs a vacuum sealer.

If you have an extra one you are not using, could you bring it to the monastery any afternoon? We will start using it that day, and the next day, and the next day.

The Amazon list has a few other items the monastery's homeless outreach ministry needs.

The greatest miracle is not raising the dead, but rather, it is feeding those who are hungry.

"We welcome everyone brought to our doors or whom we encounter on the streets at the guidance of Christ. Regardless of religious affiliation or faith, whether Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Atheist or of no faith, all are warmly welcomed at Christ's table. Our service is without exception – all are invited. We extend our help to the homeless, those on the brink of homelessness, the marginalized, and the impoverished, who have been overlooked and unseen. We assist individuals and groups to help them advocate for themselves."

We provide basic necessities like food, clothing, shoes, diapers, toiletries, and a hot meal to help ease the burdens of those in need. This allows them to use their money for essential expenses like rent, utilities, groceries, and transportation. Moreover, we also highlight uplifting stories of individuals making a positive difference in their communities.

The Monastery of the Holy Martyrs is in real need of your help this afternoon. Since the beginning of this month, there have been only four donations, far less than this time last month or the month before. Bills need to be paid. Expenses like gas and electric, gas and oil for the Monk Mobile, and some items not provided by our community partners. Your prompt action is crucial.
