Meet this month's MN waiting child, La’Myira!

La’Myira is a kind, creative, and driven 17-year-old who loves spending time with friends, reading, and doing hair. She dreams of owning her own salon one day.

Soft-spoken but a strong self-advocate, she enjoys making others happy and is exploring future careers in nursing and firefighting. Most of all, La’Myira values relationships and wants to feel supported while she’s still able to just be a kid.

She’s hoping for a permanent, caring family who will be there for her no matter what.

Growing into adulthood is a big transition, and no young person should have to figure it out alone.

Our STAY (Successful Transition to Adulthood for Youth) Program supports youth ages 14 to 22 who are currently or were formerly in foster care and are working with a county or tribal social worker. We serve youth across northwest Minnesota.

STAY is about practical support, real connections, and helping youth move toward adulthood with confidence.

Last week, we had the opportunity to attend the 2026 Minnesota Su***de Prevention Conference in Duluth. Over three days, we connected with partners from across the state, shared ideas, and learned new ways to support mental wellness and prevent su***de in our communities.

We also hosted a table, which gave us a chance to meet attendees, share resources, and have some really meaningful conversations with others doing this important work.

Thank you to the organizers and everyone working to create safer, more supportive communities across Minnesota.

After three years apart, Samantha and her daughter Zariyah were finally back together. This is something that almost never happens once parental rights are terminated.

Samantha put in the work to turn her life around, from treatment and recovery to rebuilding stability and support. Step by step, she showed up, rebuilt trust with Zariyah, and never gave up hope.

Today, Zariyah is home, and Samantha is using her experience to help other parents find their way back, too.
