Dogs2DogTags

Dogs2DogTags Our primary goal is to provide military veterans a loving, canine companion. We are committed to standing by our veterans, and keeping them aware that we care.

What We Do

We create opportunities to save at risk dogs, train them, and place them with deserving service members who have been diagnosed with post-combat stress and anxiety. There is no out of pocket cost for the veteran to receive a trained dog, and they gain a constant companion to help them cope with the unique challenges of their everyday life. Who We Are

We are a group of men and women who have either served in or worked closely with our military. We’ve seen the difficulties that our men and women face when returning to civilian life, and we’ve known men and women who have tragically contributed to the unprecedented rate of veteran suicides. Torre’s Story

The idea for Dogs2DogTags came to Torre Willadsen when he was deployed as a civilian contractor working with military dogs in 2012. During his time with the 7th Marines, he developed close bonds with dogs and dog handlers alike, and when dog handler Chris Van Etten was wounded, Torre worked hard to help keep Chris and his dog Harley together during Chris’ recovery. Torre suspected—and then saw firsthand—the profound effect a canine companion could have on a wounded man’s frame of mind at a difficult time. And that’s when Torre knew that he wanted to bring that kind of unconditional support to those back home struggling with post-traumatic stress. Staff:

🐾 SAVE THE DATE! The Fast & Furriest 5K/10K is coming to Palmer!🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️🐕

On Saturday, October 3, Tier 1 Vet and AKtive Soles Performance Footwear are teaming up for a brand-new community event bringing together dogs, families, runners, walkers, and a great cause.

The Fast & Furriest 5K/10K will start at the Palmer Depot, coinciding with the Frost Fest Winter Expo! You can choose your own adventure: run it, walk it, tackle the 5K, or take on the 10K. And yes... bring your dog! 🐾

The race also includes Dog Fest, with dog-related vendors and plenty more happening around race headquarters.

Best of all, this event has a bigger purpose. Funds raised will benefit Dogs2DogTags, an organization dedicated to pairing deserving veterans with trained dogs to provide companionship, support, and greater independence. 🇺🇸🐕

Registration information is coming soon!

For now, save the date, tell your running buddy, tell your walking buddy... and maybe start getting your four-legged buddy ready, too. 🐾

Their sacrifice, service, and stories will never be forgotten.

From all of us at Dogs2DogTags, we honor the fallen this Memorial Day.

Thank you to our friends at Vesta in Sheboygan for welcoming Mia during her public access training visit! 🐾

Mia is working hard on getting comfortable in new environments, and experiences like this help build her confidence around new people and public spaces.

A special thank you to her handler, Jon, for guiding her through these important training moments—and to the Vesta team for all the belly rubs and encouragement along the way. 💙🐶
