Community members are advised that temporary lane closures and traffic detours will be in effect on State Road (Route 3A) between Rocky Hill Road and Powerhouse Road on Tuesday, Sept. 15, while road construction is being completed.

Construction is expected to occur between 8:30 AM and 2 PM. State Road northbound and southbound lanes will alternate being closed throughout the day, with one-way traffic patterns and detours in place as needed.

Traffic signage will be posted, and a police detail will be present. Drivers are advised to exercise caution and expect minor delays when traveling through the area during construction hours.

The Department of Energy and Environment is pleased to announce that the Town of Plymouth, in conjunction with Sustainable Plymouth, will join other municipalities across the country in celebrating Climate Week during the week of September 21st, with several events to help promote practical tips for a more energy-efficient lifestyle.

The week-long celebration will begin with a speaker series in the Fehlow Room at the Plymouth Public Library, 132 South St. Several speakers will give free presentations throughout the week on how community members can save money with energy-efficient solutions.

The week-long recognition will culminate with the Plymouth Energy Education Expo 2026 and Electric Vehicle (EV) Car Show on Saturday, Sept. 26, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the Plymouth Public Library front lawn and parking lot, 132 South St.

Community members are encouraged to attend the free, family-friendly event to explore clean energy technologies and learn more about rebates, energy-efficient programs, and sustainable transportation. Local organizations, contractors, and energy professionals will also be present for community members to speak with. Live music by Thirsty Boots and Kogi's food truck will also be present for attendees to enjoy.

Last week, the CommonWealth Beacon visited Plymouth to meet with local officials and learn more about the town's new flood resilience-focused pilot project. In partnership with InnSure, the project seeks to identify insurance coverage gaps and reduce coastal hazard risks in the community.

Plymouth Center residents in precincts 3, 4, and 18 are invited to attend a neighborhood session on Monday, Sept. 14, from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. at Plymouth North High School Cafeteria, 41 Obery St., to learn more about the Comprehensive Wastewater Management Plan.

Join the Community Advisory Committee to learn more about the plan, including water quality, sewer needs, and wastewater management over the next several years. Residents can also submit questions ahead of the meeting by emailing [email protected].

Community members are informed that the final phase of construction for the Water Street Sewer System Replacement Project will begin on Monday, Sept. 14.

During the final phase of the project, Northern Construction Service LLC will install sheeting between the rotary and Memorial Drive on Water Street. Work is expected to occur Monday through Friday, between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., and will continue until Saturday, Nov. 14. Please note that some construction may occur on Saturdays if needed.

Community members are advised that a one-way traffic pattern will be implemented on Water Street during construction. All northbound traffic on Water Street, between Chilton Street and the rotary, will be detoured to accommodate the one-way traffic pattern. Southbound traffic travelling from the rotary to Water Street will be permitted via the temporary traffic pattern.

The Memorial Hall parking lot will remain accessible via Court Street while construction is ongoing.

Community members are advised that during the week of September 14, the Town will be installing two rubber speed humps near the intersection of White Horse Road and Taylor Avenue as part of a "pilot" program to enhance pedestrian and motorist safety.

The posted speed limit within this zone is 20 MPH and will remain unchanged following the installations. Weather permitting, installation is anticipated to take approximately two days to complete. Drivers are advised to exercise caution and expect minor delays when traveling through the area during construction hours.

Today, we pause to honor and remember all civilians, airline pilots and attendants, EMS, police and fire personnel, Port Authority workers, military and civilian workers at the Pentagon, and all the families who lost loved ones in New York, Pennsylvania, and Washington, D.C., on Sept. 11, 2001.

Community members are invited to join town officials today, Sept. 11, as we commemorate the 25th anniversary of 9/11, beginning at 9:45 AM at the Plymouth 9/11 Memorial, 1 South Spooner St.

Community members are advised that the Cape Cod & Southeast MA Rabies Task Force and the United States Department of Agriculture Wildlife Services (USDA WS) will be conducting Oral Rabies Vaccination (ORV) over the coming days in the Plymouth area. This is done in effort to vaccinate wild raccoons to prevent the spread of raccoon-variant rabies to Cape Cod.

Community members may see a helicopter flying over the area as the rotary wing ORV operations will be based out of Plymouth Municipal Airport.

Please note that vaccine/bait packets should be picked up with a glove or towel and disposed of in the woods where children and pets won't find it. If there's no woods nearby, community members should dispose of the vaccine/bait packet in the trash. Please wash your hands after handling.

The Town of Plymouth is pleased to announce the Roadway Re-Surfacing Project for Hill Dale Road will begin tomorrow, September 10th. The work will consist of Roadway Reclamation (Grinding of Existing Paved Surface) and Re-Paving the road.

Barring any inclement weather and unforeseen circumstances, work is expected to occur between the hours of 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday to Friday. We anticipate this work will take approximately two to three (2 to 3) weeks to complete.

Residents are asked to not park their cars on the street within the work zone during the hours of 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Access to individual driveways should remain accessible, except when specifically working around your driveway.
