Keeping Seniors in Their Homes

Our seniors built this town. They taught our kids, ran our local shops, and volunteered in our pews. It is a heartbreak when a neighbor has to sell their home because they can no longer keep up with the taxes on a fixed income. We will work to expand the Senior Property Tax Work-Off Program. We need to increase the amount seniors can earn off their tax bill by helping out in our town departments. It’s a win-win. The town gets the help of experienced, dedicated residents, and our seniors get a much-needed break on their taxes so they can stay in the homes they love.

This provides immediate, direct relief to our most vulnerable homeowners. It allows them to trade their time and talent for a lower tax bill, making it easier to stay in the homes they worked their whole lives for.

Vague ideas won't pay the bills, but a clear path forward will. While others talk in circles, we’re running on a plan.

Next up on our Plan!
Looking to the Future (SMRs)
We need to explore implementing Small Modular Reactor (SMR) technology at the former power plant site. This isn't just about energy; it's about our bottom line. This technology would generate massive tax revenue, immediately shifting the tax burden off our homeowners. Even better, it gives us the leverage to ask for the remaining 1,500 acres of the property as a donation to the town. We could also potentially negotiate a host community electric rate, putting money directly back into your pocket every time you turn on the lights.
This is a long-term fix. It brings high-value industrial tax dollars back to Plymouth, potentially secures massive amounts of open space for the town at no cost, and could even lower your monthly electric bill.
Talk is cheap, but results require a roadmap. Others have slogans; we have a plan.

The Town of Plymouth is partnering with InnSure, a non-profit reimagining climate change-related insurance risk financing, on a flood resilience-focused pilot project intended to identify insurance coverage gaps and reduce coastal hazard risks in the community.

As part of the collaboration, InnSure will develop and implement an artificial intelligence-driven Total Cost of Risk (TCOR) Simulator, the results of which will inform and support urban planning and resilience activities.
