Widespread rain with a few embedded thunderstorms is expected this evening and overnight. Most locations will see around an inch with pockets of 2 inches or more possible. The severe risk is low but a few strong storms can't be ruled out south of US-30. Rain tapers off Monday afternoon.

As communities recover from severe weather, be on the lookout for home repair scams. Be cautious of contractors who show up uninvited, pressure you to make a quick decision, demand large upfront payments or claim to be working with a government agency without proof.

Before hiring anyone, research the company, verify licenses and insurance, get a written contract and never pay the full amount before work begins. Taking a few extra steps can help protect your home, your finances and your recovery.

Disaster Relief Now Available for Marshall County!

Governor Mike Braun has declared a disaster emergency for 63 Indiana counties impacted by severe weather, flooding, tornadoes and the June derecho, including Marshall County.

If your primary residence was damaged and you are uninsured or underinsured, you may be eligible for up to $25,000 through Indiana's State Disaster Relief Fund to help with recovery.

We are happy to say that today was a forecasting miss.

The warm front didn’t make it as far north as originally predicted. On our side of the warm front, only a few storms formed and none were severe.

On the south side of the front, tornado warnings are being issued and the scenario we were afraid of is happening to our friends downstate. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

Thank you to everyone who prepared for the storm and kept up with the forecast. As we learned last week, the weather is unpredictable. Tonight, we got lucky.

The more significant severe weather threat has shifted further south, focused in the tornado watch area ( #344) until 1 am ET. Prolonged widespread rain today kept the environment in our area more stable (less conducive for severe). The best threat for severe weather in our area this evening will be in the northern portions of the watch area. Locations near the Michigan State Line will see more of a heavy rain, localized flooding threat. Closer to the watch area there is still an isolated severe threat, but confidence is lower. Down towards Indianapolis, the higher-end threat remains.

Now down to slight! That warm front isn’t making it as far north as expected. All the concerning ingredients are still in place further south of here, but our threat has gone down. Still a strong possibility we see severe weather, so don’t let your guard down! And keep in touch with your friends and family downstate who are now in the bullseye.

Some good news:

Marshall County has been downgraded to an "Enhanced Risk" (level 3/5) for today's severe weather. Enhanced Risk still entails widespread severe storms and the damaging winds and tornado risks are still at a concerning level.

The Moderate Risk remains for areas to our south where ingredients are more favorable for tornadoes.
