Thank you to everyone who made our 43rd Annual COPE Event this evening such a success! We were excited to present Dottie Miller with the 1st Service Recognition Award. On behalf of 700,000 working men and women in Pennsylvania, represented by 51 International Unions and 1,422 Locals, the Pennsylvania AFL-CIO Executive Council endorsed 178 candidates in the Pennsylvania 2022 General Election.

These endorsements represent a meaningful affirmation of each candidate’s values and recognize that they care about Pennsylvania’s working families. We encourage voters to get to know our endorsed candidates and the issues our members care about – better pay and benefits, secure retirements, gender equality, workplace health and safety, high quality public education, and civil rights, among others.

These candidates have demonstrated their strong commitment to union ideals and the issues that we care about. The PA AFL-CIO is proud to support candidates that will advocate and fight on behalf of working people across the commonwealth.

President Pete Addalli, along with union leaders and workers from around the nation, were present for the National AFL-CIO Convention right here in Philadelphia this week. We saw Liz Shuler become the first woman President and Fred Redmond become Secretary-Treasurer, the first African American to hold this office. We heard from Stacey Abrams and President Joe Biden along with numerous panel discussions and conversations. What an incredible week!

Congrats to Frank Snyder and Angela Ferritto! Thank you Rick Bloomingdale for your years of service. We hope you enjoy a well deserved retirement!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Frank Snyder Elected Pennsylvania AFL-CIO President, Angela Ferritto Elected Secretary-Treasurer

(Pittsburgh, PA) – Frank Snyder was elected president of Pennsylvania AFL-CIO on Wednesday, and his running mate, Angela Ferritto, was elected as secretary-treasurer of the state federation. The pair were elected by acclamation as their candidacies were unopposed during the Pennsylvania AFL-CIO 45th Constitutional Convention.

“I am humbled and honored by the faith and confidence that the delegates of this great organization have shown in me,” Snyder said after the election. “I have made advancing the labor movement in Pennsylvania my life’s work,” he said. “I will use every fiber of my being to continue that work in this new role,” Snyder said.

“I have been fortunate to have learned from one of the best,” Snyder said of the retiring President of the Pennsylvania AFL-CIO, Rick Bloomingdale. “Rick is not only a friend, but also a mentor,” he said. “I will be building on the achievements of Rick’s tenure as president, and putting the pedal to the floor to continue that progress,” he said.

“I am thrilled to be elected to this new position,” Ferritto said of her ascension to the number two position in the Pennsylvania AFL-CIO. “We have a lot of challenges before us right out of the gate,” she said. “But with this leadership team and the determination and drive of our membership, I know we will meet the moment and deliver for all working people in the commonwealth,” she said.

Snyder and Ferritto will assume their new respective roles on June 1, 2022.
