Our services are staffed entirely by dedicated, trained volunteers and include firefighting, vehicle rescue and quick response emergency medical care. Apparatus:

𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗣𝗥 & 𝗔𝗘𝗗 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲
Holiday Park VFD is committed to educating the public and first responders on the importance of learning CPR and operating a AED device. We have on staff several American Heart Association certified Instructors who teach free classes several times a year for the Plum Borough community (Feb, May, and Sept) hosted by the fire department.

Our ALS partner at Plum EMS also offers a regularly scheduled CPR class each month as part of their community program too. Between our two agencies there are plenty of opportunities to learn and/or brush up on your CPR skills.

The officers & members of the Holiday Park VFD extend our congratulations to EMT Hannah Westover on her graduation Sunday from the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine with her Masters of Science Degree in Medical Science. In a few short weeks she will start Medical School there to earn her doctorate!

Hannah is a proud Alumni of Plum Borough School District Senior High School.

Hannah's whole family is major part of the Holiday Park Volunteer Fire Department:
Chad (father) is a Firefighter/EMR as well as our Treasurer.
Kristen (mother) is a Special Member who is part of our fundraising & events teams.
Emily (sister) is a Junior Firefighter
Caleb (brother) is a Junior Firefighter

The officers & members of the Holiday Park VFD offer our congratulations to Firefighter Aiden Faiella on him passing the national examination for the Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification and joining the ranks of our QRS (EMS) Responders.

He will now focus on completing some additional training associated with the PA EMT Scope of Practice as part of our QRS Responder Preceptor Program as well as learning our SOG's and equipment.

Aiden wants eventually to earn additional certifications in special rescue operations such as Swift Water Rescue, Dive Rescue, USAR, and more!

𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴
This past Saturday, Firefighter/Paramedic Norm Auvil led hands-on training on extrication techniques and rescue processes involving school buses and automobiles.

This training event was made possible through the generosity of the Plum Borough School District and Clyde's Auto Service, Repair & Towing for providing the vehicles for the class.

Skills covered: vehicle stabilization, patient assessment, extrication methods, patient care & removal, vehicle structuring, tool use, planning/execution of rescue ops, etc…

𝗗𝗥𝗜𝗟𝗟 𝗡𝗜𝗚𝗛𝗧: 𝗩𝗘𝗦
This week, firefighters updated their VES (Vent, Enter, & Search) and victim removal skills using our custom made props. Captain LaBertew, Lieutenant Brucker, & Lieutenant Gottschall led the training evolutions ensuring safety along the way.

Holiday Park VFD is fortunate to have several members who are experts in the construction field and whom develop in-house these drill props.

Wednesday night, three of our young Firefighters made their way across the stage and graduated from Plum Borough Senior High School after not only achieving outstanding scholastic, athletic, & musical success; but also serving their community in the volunteer fire service during those years.

The officers & members of the Holiday Park VFD are proud of these three young men and offer our best wishes to them in their next endeavor:

There’s nothing like outdoor grilling. It’s one of the most popular ways to cook food. But a grill placed too close to anything that can burn is a fire hazard. It can be very hot, causing burn injuries. Learn simple tips and you will be on the way to safe grilling.

Monday evening as part of National EMS Week 2026, we hosted the "𝗕𝗶𝗸𝗲𝗿 𝗗𝗼𝘄𝗻: 𝗜𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗥𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 & 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗣𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿𝘀" class where local motorcyclists were taught vital lifesaving skills that can be done prior to First Responders arriving on-scene during an accident.

Chief Jim Sims and Dr. Lee Milligan designed this class using their backgrounds in EMS, Riding, Rescue, and Accident Investigation/ Reconstruction specifically for riders.

Vitals skills covered included but not limited to:
- Scene Safety & Quick Assessment
- Bleeding Control
- Patient/Rider movement (out of danger zone)
- Helmet Access (when warranted)
- Airway Management
- Spinal Stabilization

Each participant took home a tourniquet and starter first aid kit to kick-start a response bag on their motorcycles. The course included: Stop the Bleed Training as well as AHA First Aid.

The feedback shared at the end of class will be incorporated into future sessions.
