The mayor and council have been receiving an increased number of complaints about the misuse of the City dumpsters. The main complaint is loose grass clippings, which are not only extremely hard on the garbage truck but also cause problems at the landfill when they are loose and mixed in with regular household trash. The City’s ordinance states that ALL garbage upon any premises in the city, in order to be collected, must be boxed, bagged or bundled. The city is NOT responsible for picking up loose grass or lawn clippings. Building debris, tree branches, and large appliances are not to be deposited in city dumpsters. Violations are municipal infractions or civil offenses, and citations can be issued. The infractions are punishable by a civil penalty of not more than $300 for each violation, or, if the infraction is a second or subsequent offense, a civil penalty not to exceed $500 for each such repeat offense may be issued.

It’s another trash post! Please bag all grass clippings before throwing them in the dumpsters, and haul all tree branches directly to the landfill. Have a great weekend!

We will continue to take lifeguard applications until this Friday but then we have to cut it off because lifeguard training will be at the end of this month and we have to get our number of lifeguards sent in to the trainers. Right now we have enough lifeguards to open the pool but it will be limited hours because we could still use about 8 more people to have it fully staffed.

Effective immediately the City of Plentywood will be enforcing a no burn ban. Violations of the burn ban will result in fines! With the extremely dry conditions along with the wind, this has created very hazardous conditions. This ban includes fire pits, burn barrels, burning of leaf piles, etc. And please let’s also all use some common sense and not throw cigarette butts on the ground. Thank you for your cooperation with this. Our VOLUNTEER firefighters are already spread thin with all the fires they have had to put out so far and the summer is just beginning. Let’s all hope we get some rain very soon!!!

Just a friendly reminder that the dumpsters in city limits are for city residents only. Out of town residents of Sheridan county are welcome to haul household trash to the landfill. Also please remember to break down large boxes before disposing them in the dumpsters. Thank you!
