Sanitation Schedule for the Week of September 7, 2026

Village offices will be closed on Monday, September 7, 2026 in observance of Labor Day
• If your collection is Monday, your garbage will be collected Tuesday, September 8, 2026.
• If your collection is Tuesday, your garbage will be collected Wednesday, September 9, 2026.
• If your collection is Wednesday, your garbage will be collected Thursday, September 10, 2026.
• Plastics, cans and bottles will be collected Friday, September 11, 2026.
• There will be no paper or cardboard collection this week.
• Yard Waste will be collected Thursday, September 10, 2026.

The Recycling Center will be open Saturday, September 12, 2026 from 9:00am to 3:00pm.

Work Notice: Roadway Restoration at Marble Avenue on Tuesday, 8/25/26 and Thursday, 8/27/26

Marble Avenue – Booth Street to St. George Place

The Village of Pleasantville advises motorists and residents that permanent roadway restoration associated with an emergency water main repair is scheduled for:

Date: Tuesday, August 25, 2026 and Thursday, August 27, 2026
Time: 9:00 AM – 3:30 PM
Location: Marble Avenue between Booth Street and St. George Place
Anticipated Duration: Two (2) days

The emergency roadway restoration work will be performed by the Village's contractor, Legacy Valve, LLC. The schedule is subject to change due to weather, field conditions or unforeseen circumstances.

Marble Avenue will be reduced to one lane with alternating traffic under temporary traffic control. Motorists should expect intermittent delays and vehicle queuing, and are advised to use caution when traveling through the work zone. Access for emergency vehicles, buses, trucks, residents and other vehicles will be maintained during the work.

Job Opportunity - Bus Driver

The Village of Pleasantville is looking to hire a Part Time Bus Driver

Hours are Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM (varies)

Description: The Part Time Senior Center Bus driver will drive the 14-passenger bus or transit van to pick up seniors who reside in the village for programming. The part-time senior center bus driver may drive the bus to bring the senior citizens grocery shopping and help load and unload their groceries.

Qualifications: Clean and Valid NYS driver's license (CDL Not Required)

Compensation: $20 per hour

Job Opportunity - School Crossing Guard-

The Village is accepting applications for School Crossing Guard positions at a pay rate of $22.50 per hour. The hours are school days from approximately 7:15am to 9:00am and again from approximately 2:30pm to 3:45pm. Hours depend on the specific post; but candidates can expect 2.75 to 3 hours a day.
Our Crossing Guards assist children cross streets on their way to and from school. Duties include managing traffic at crosswalks, assisting children crossing street going to and returning from school and instructing younger children in the precautions to be taken when crossing the street. The ideal candidate would be:
• patient;
• dependable;
• calm under pressure;
• firm yet courteous with the public;
• able to get along well with children;
• able to think and act quickly in emergencies;
• not easily distracted and possessing good powers of observation;
• in a physical condition commensurate with standing outside in a variety of weather for the time required.
Guards call the Police Desk before each post to report for duty. Opportunities are available for 2.5 hours of Saturday work for to assist at the Pleasantville Farmer’s Market.

Public Notice: Marble Avenue Closed near Stanley Street and potential disruption in water service--

The Village’s Department of Public Works is responding to a water main break on Marble Avenue. Marble Avenue is currently closed in the vicinity of Stanley Street while emergency repairs are underway.

Residents in the surrounding area may experience temporary disruptions or interruptions in water service while the repair work is being completed.

Village of Pleasantville Partners with Helpsy for Free Clothing & Textile Recycling -

The Village of Pleasantville is pleased to partner with Helpsy to offer residents a free, convenient home pickup service for unwanted clothing, shoes, linens, and other textiles.

Every year, millions of pounds of reusable and recyclable textiles end up in landfills. Through this partnership, residents have an easy way to recycle unwanted items, helping reduce waste, conserve resources, and lower municipal disposal costs.

How It Works
1. Schedule a free pickup by visiting www.helpsy.com/pleasantvilleny or calling 1-800-244-6350.
2. Place your unwanted textiles in a closed plastic bag. All items should be clean, dry, and odor-free.
3. Leave the bags outside your front door, porch, mailbox, or another designated pickup location by 7:00 a.m. on your scheduled collection day. Special pickup instructions can be provided when scheduling.

What Can Be Recycled?
Helpsy accepts a wide variety of items in any condition for reuse or recycling, including:
• Clothing for all ages

• Coats and jackets

Water Main Break – Weskora Avenue

The Village's Department of Public Works continues to repair a water main break on Weskora Avenue that is affecting water service to nearby homes.

Water service is expected to be restored between 8:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. this evening.
