Pleasantville Police Identify Suspect Following High-Speed Pursuit

PLEASANTVILLE, OH – On Friday, February 13, 2026, at approximately 7:33 p.m., the Pleasantville Police Department, in collaboration with two other law enforcement agencies, conducted a planned drug interdiction operation. During the operation, officers observed a vehicle leaving a residence under surveillance for suspected narcotics activity.

After observing an equipment violation, officers attempted to follow the vehicle. The suspect immediately fled at a high rate of speed before a traffic stop could be initiated, nearly striking an occupied U-Haul vehicle. The suspect continued to operate recklessly, disregarding stop signs and reaching speeds estimated at over 70 mph in a 25 mph residential zone.

Officers initiated a pursuit based on the reckless operation and the ongoing narcotics investigation. The pursuit moved onto Cattail Road, where heavy dust and road conditions created low visibility. As the patrol unit crossed a rise in the roadway at SR 256, a suspected mechanical failure of a spring coil caused the cruiser to pull into the ditch, resulting in a crash.

The two officers involved sustained minor injuries. One officer was transported to a local medical facility as a precaution and has since been released. The patrol vehicle, a 2017 Ford Police Interceptor that was donated to the village is considered a total loss. The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.

Immediately following the incident, the suspect vehicle was located abandoned on private property in Perry County. With the assistance of the Perry County Sheriff’s Office, the property was searched for the suspect, and the vehicle was subsequently impounded. Investigators have since positively identified the driver, who is currently on felony probation for methamphetamine-related convictions, has previously been arrested by Officers on a felony warrant, and was also operating without a valid driver's license.

Charges are being filed and a warrant is currently being sought. This incident will not impact police services. The Pleasantville Police Department remains committed to protecting our community as well as addressing the residents’ concerns about illegal drug activity. The department would like to thank the citizens who provided the tips that led to the recovery of the suspect vehicle.

Emergency heat option in the event of a power outage.

If that happens, also remember to open all spigots and let the water drip to help prevent pipe freezing on any water lines you can't shut off and drain.

Please utilize off-street parking beginning at 6pm today, Saturday January 24th, 2026 through Monday.

This will help crews clear the road, avoid plowing your vehicle in, and minimize the chance for damage to your vehicle.

Forecasts for snow totals are anywhere from 6-12 inches of snow over the next two days. This will cause a great deal of effort to dig a vehicle out especially if the plowed snow re-freezes around the vehicles.

Remember windshield wipers can break if turned on when frozen to the windshield. Some people put the wiper blades up or cover the windshield/wipers to prevent this.

Rear wheel drive vehicles, especially pickup trucks will benefit from added weight over the rear axles. Sand bags and cinder blocks are often used.

Please share to anyone that parks on the street or may have to travel.
