Posted • The Alameda County Fire Department (ACFD) and Alameda County Fire Fighters Association (ACFFA)-Local 55 are deeply saddened to announce the off-duty death of Firefighter Eric Mikel. Firefighter Mikel joined the ACFD on March 1, 2005. He was most recently assigned to Station 34 in Emeryville. Firefighter Mikel passed away while off-duty on Monday, June 24, 2019, in Richmond, California. Firefighter Mikel was a valued member of our organization and will be missed. We are grateful to the Richmond Police Department and the Richmond Fire Department for their efforts to assist Firefighter Mikel. ACFD Chief David Rocha and the men and women of the Department extend their sincerest condolences to his family during this devastating and challenging time.

As citizens of this nation it is important for us to remember the sacrifices made by others. To take steps to ensure that no one feels so empowered as to treat us this way again.
As servants, events in history such as these stand as inspiration, a high water mark of just how much our duty may ask of us and to take pride in knowing we stand ready EVERY day to preserve life mitigate dammage and promote the common welfare.
As parents and family members we pray our children and next of kin can take up the mantle of forwarding our communities and our country in peace free from suspicions that days such as these are held in their future.

Alan "Bruno" Brunacini was an icon in the fire service for decades. He had been on the lecture circuit for many years discussing every aspect of fire service from operations to culture. He brought a level headed approach to service and used words like "love" and "compassion" to describe the true foundations and motivations of our craft.

Rest well sir.

Alan Brunacini, who introduced the concept of customer service to the fire service, passed away Sunday.

Please join Station 2 and the LPFD in congratulating Trevor Plake on completing his 6th quarter probationary manipulative final this afternoon. He and his probationary class have spent the last 18 months working hard. Each quarter test is a new set of skills the probationary has to demonstrate proficient aptitude. The 6th quarter dubed "the probie rodeo" is a selection from any of the previous quarters. It makes for a long day and firefighter Plake passed every evolution.
